Topic: Issue with loading tracks into DDJ-ERGO while using VDJ.

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hey guys,

I just recently was told this during my broadcast today, but I normally have my external speakers turned on through the master input into my DDJ-ERGO controller, but I decided to just run the sound out of my laptop while plugged into the ERGO through the mic input.

Well, the issue I had was when I load up a track to play, the sound is up and loud and clear, but as soon as I click on load on the other deck to load up another song to play next, the audio I noticed DROPS in volume. The volume knob and everything isnt touched. Something is causing my volume to drop dramatically when I click on load to bring up the next track.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue, and how do I go about fixing this? Is it because my externals are off and Im not running the sound through my master and just through the mic input, or what?? That shouldnt be the cause. Im sure many DJ's use their laptop internal speakers for small local deals. Just don't know what could cause this.

The sound drop you are getting is caused by a wrong sound setup. It appears that both Master and Headphones share the same output channel.
Not quite understood why and how you have connected your Ergo and laptop, but if you provide us the Sound setup you have already in Config, we might be able to help you more.

Hi All,

I had this same volume issue today. I am not using a hardware controller though. I had the wrong audio setup. I had setup headphones with one sound card and that didn't work very well. Once I plugged in a second usb sound card and then selected headphones -> two sound-cards. This way my PFL's are on a completely different sound-card so there is no bleeding into the main (master) output "which was causing the sound jumps."

Thanks. God Bless.

Sorry for the delay in responding back. Been busy here.

Ok, well, the way I am connected to the DDJ-ERGO is naturally I have a quarter inch cable going into the master in the back of the controller. I have a small audio cable going out of the ERGO from the Phones jack and going into the mic jack in the laptop. Its the only way I can hook it up in order to send the audio from the controller to the laptop while broadcasting live on Ustream.

The sound config under the Ergo gives me three options: INPUT, OUTPUT, and SOUNDCARD.

Under Input I have only two options. None, and Microphone. Naturally microphone is selected.
Under Output, I have only two selections: Single outpout, or Headphones.
Next to these two drop downs I can select the following: Master Chan 1&2 / Headphones Chan 2&3, OR I can choose Master Chan 3&4 / Headphones Chan 1&2.

The next selection down is the Soundcard selection. The only option to choose is Asio Driver. Next to this, the only option to choose is the Pioneer DDJ Asio.

Aside from this, thats it.

Is there anything else I need to state on here?? Let me know.

Purchase an RCA splitter cable and route the master output of the Ergo to both your speakers and the Min/LineIn input of your computer.
(Actually you will need 2 of these http://www.amazon.com/Pyramid-RY6-Male-Female-Adaptor/dp/B0007LCKJQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1343752436&sr=8-4&keywords=rca+splitter )

Plug your headphones to the front headphones socket of Ergo.
Sound setup
Inputs.. LineIns
Outputs.. Headphones (Master 1,2 / Headphones 3,.4)
Sound card ASIO and next to that select Pioneer ASIO (DDJ)

I want to say Im following your suggestion but a tad bit confused. My master output on the BACK of the Ergo goes to a sub and from the sub, comes out two 8 gauge cables that link to 2 PA speakers, so the sound on my externals are fine. I dont play sound out of master output hardly. I just play the sound off my laptops internal speakers.

As far as my microphone goes, I cant use my microphone at all while Im broadcasting. My microphone sounds fine if my external speakers are on, but you can only hear me if your here at the studio. The mic will not record my voice over live broadcasting for some reason. I never could figure out how to make this work, but your idea about using a dual input cable might be my solution on using my mic.

Using my headphones I dont think is an issue as there is another headphone jack on the front of the ERGO. One is quarter inch, and the other is an 8 gauge input, if you have seen the front panels of the ERGO.

So I guess what Im confused with is if I buy a dual input cable, do I plug in one end of the cable to the ERGO, and the other end into my mic?

So let me ask this. If I buy a splitter, could I connect one end into my microphone so that my voice broadcasts fine through the laptop and the other end into the Ergo to record the audio, fine?

I had to do some test with the Ergo to make sure about something before posting.

So, about MIC/AUX and Ergo...

MIC/AUX inputs of the Ergo are not hardwired. The input can be handled from the software, meaning that both MIC and AUX inputs can be used to record or broadcast.

The Sound Setup for both LE and Pro Full versions should be ..

Inputs ..Microphone
Outputs ..Headphones
Sound card ..ASIO & Pioneer DDJ ASIO (4out & Pioneer DDJ for MAcs)

Apologies for the confusion.
