my pioneer djm 2000 has a 2 built in touchpad with 3 buttons.
im another thread i'm requesting that a mouse will be added to the midi functionality. that's a different topic.
in the mean time, i want to get your input on this.. what/how can a touchpad be used for in virtual dj. i'm sure there is about one sound fx that can be used for, but other than that.. can anyone come up with something else. the djm 2000 already has a bunch of built in fx.
all comments are appreciated,

If you do video you could map horizontal movement to audio crossfader, and vertical movement to video_crossfader for instance.
Generally a touchpad is a two axis control. You can map several "things" there but as you said it's preferable usage is for effects so that you can control 2 sliders at once...
Probably with a DJM-2000 you won't be using the internal mixer of VDJ anyway, but perhaps you could map crossfader + filters, or some other crazy combination...

If the midi output of the touchpad translates as two channels, X & Y, then you could map it to be FX knobs 1 & 2 perhaps.

thanks for the feedback. everyone
@phantom dj
if i were to use video crossfading i, would probably just link the line fader to virtual dj's video fader in virtual dj and it would all end there. thanks though.
@phandom dj && dj sherz
i appreciate both of your inputs. let's say the 3 buttons are "up" "activate" and "down" and the touch pad is slider 1 and slider 2. page 2 would be for deck 2 respectively. now, what sound fx do you recommend that is best used with the sliders. so far i've only used the flippin double, which does not require sliders, flanger: which has 2 sliders that i also never move, and echo: also has 2 sliders, but i never use them.
where is that totally awesome sound fx that every super dj has to have.. what is it's name?
thanks in advance for all feedback.

I reckon a touchpad would lend itself nicely to some kind of filter plugin...

that's a pretty awesome filter. since i have the djm 2000, i can already execute all of those on the fly with full control. thank you for the link though. do you know of any other filters that are totally awesome like this one?

Find out what it sends via MIDI - you might be able to get it to do mouse control ;)

well it turns out that that mixvibe has actually dedicated an entire development staff just for optimizing the mouse functions performance sent in by midi controlls. also, i found out there is a midi to mouse program that costs about 50 euros. so, if mixvibe has added it, then there is a clear reason that it should be added. and if a 3rd party sees it profitable to make money off this, then perhaps it really is a powerful feature. at least for me it is. but i'm not about to go spend 50 euros on it.
