Hello all....
I intend on upgraing my video rig and am looking at the Edirol V8. I've used it before and am impressed with the functions. I know there are some drawbacks to the unit, but I'm not here to discuss the product but rather reach out the VDJ community and see if anyone has had any success rackounting thier V8/V4.
Any pics would be helpful! Having a hard time finding a solution online.
Thanks : )

Agh, sorry for the double post. I tried to fix the spelling in one of the words and ended up posting it twice...sorry for the redundancy

Hmm, no one uses Edirol?
Ok then, what video mixers are you all using? I've been using the Numark VMS01 for a few years and am ready for an upgrade.

How do you use your system now to control videos and what advantages does it offer over using VDJ's video control features, and what are you looking to accomplish that isn't available in either....?

My video rig consists of an AV mixer that allows me to fade and effect multiple video sources that I use at a party:
Main laptop running VDJ for mp3s, music videos, slide shows, etc
(2) Live simulcast remote camera feed
2 DVD players to play montages and/or DVD content provided by client
Tripple numark preview monitors
I do understand that with the right I/O interfaces I could bypass the complete hard rig and solely rely on my Macbook Pro to run the visuals. I however don't feel comfortable putting all my eggs in one basket and prefer to have multiple sources of video content in the event that one source goes down.
Thanks

Ah and I'm looking for a more high-end unit than Numark (such as Edirol/Rolarmd, Videonics, etc) that has more effects, more versatile controls and interface, etc. The numark AVM is ok, but never feels like a pro unit when compared to higher end (and more expensive) products. VGA out from the mixer would be nice, but that would require a multi-format mixer to have upscalers and downscalers both internally. Edirol has them, but at quite a cost.

I see, you are looking at an investment that will total in the thousands for a professional production type rig that will offer what you're looking for if i'm reading you correctly, there are software solutions for editing production, but live feeds and showcase stuff you'll need hardware to pull it together nicely...
Most guy here wouldn't use this type of equipment for their specific needs though I've seen some on the threads, I'll give you a good source to help you find some competitive products and pricing for what your looking for...
