Hi Guys!

I know this topic has been covered by a user but i cant find an answer that specifically helps me out, i'll try and explain everything so nobody needs to spend too much time on a reply!

I have seen the article on headphones, and how to set them up for pre listening and cueing, but im a little confused with sound cards. I gather that for an external sound card it needs to be 4.1 or higher, because of the channels, but can i use JUST an external one?

The reason i ask this is that the headphone socket on my laptop is broken, the contact pin at the side has become bent in and refuses to come out, so i am looking at getting an external sound card. I guess i would need a 4.1 sound card or higher but with two green outputs, am i right? And can you get these? I seem to be having a bit of trouble finding one, so i broke off the search to get some help!

I dont know if it makes any difference but i am using a Hercules MP3 E2 MIDI controller (basic i know).

Thanks for any help you can give guys!

Gav.

Indeed, any USB multi-channels external soundcard (also called audio interface) should, as long as you have at least 2 outputs (one for the main, the other for preview).

Here is a procedure that describes how to go about configuring VDJ and making the connection (it applies directly to the Hercules Muse Pocket, but the setup is similar to any soundcard of this type):

http://ts.hercules.com/faqs/eng/her_eng_00401.pdf

You will also find dedicated DJ audio interface that will be more appropriate for this specific usage (1/4" jack connector, volume controls, dedicated ASIO drivers for better performances), but all this might not feel necessary if you are just beginning.

Thanks for your reply!

Ill have a look at the article and get it sussed out!

Thank!

Gav
