Hello guys,
I need some help tailored to my issue but before reading any further please consider that there is no need of responses along the lines of "look it up" :( I tried finding proper information but find it somewhat hard.
So my situation - I have two Numark Axis 8 players, a basic 2 channel mixer and a laptop I want to hookup together. I want to use my cd players to control the tracks played on the Virtual DJ (or generally other software of the kind). Since I need that for use at home or home parties I don't really need a super high quality products. I'm also not too keen on purchasing expensive items so I need your help here regarding what product I need with the best price-to-quality ratio.
I was referred to Stanton Final Scratch V2 (expensive), Traktor Auido 4 (expensive but also I couldn't find out if it can be actually used for the CD players to control the tracks on the PC) and Traktor Audio 2 (ideal pricing but it seems it cannot be used with CD players but only digital controllers or an external mixer).
So, what is a good alternative for use with CD players? Also if I understand the concept correctly, I need Timecode CDs for this whole setup to work. Please confirm. Last question - timecode CDs can be purchased ready, or burned by myself, correct?
I would highly appreciate all your help in this regard. Thanks in advance!

You can use your Axis 8's to control the full VirtualDJ Pro by using timecode CD's with a suitable ASIO sound card - Please see our FAQ pages:

Thanks for the info!
So now I have to get my hands on one of these. The MAYA 44 seems a feasible option.

Hello guys,
Thanks for the help. I tried setting stuff up but I encounter a problem. I got myself a Maya 44 USD external soundcard. I installed the latest drivers as well from their website. What happens however, is that the inputs from both channels / both players, go out the same OUT channel.
In detail, on the Maya, channel 1 and 2 IN receive the audio from the left player and channels 3 and 4 IN receive the audio from the right player. The same is the logic with the outputs: 1 and 2 OUT should get the sound from 1 and 2 IN and 3 and 4 OUT should get the sound from 3 and 4 IN. However, Both 1-2 and 3-4 IN go out the 1-2 OUT channel. I cannot find any settings in the control panel to fix this. Somebody with experience on this please advise so I can finally hook it up to VDJ.
Thanks!

I have just answered this in the other post you made about the exact same thing.
Please do not cross post!

Wasn't my intention - I just didn't realize I actually posted the other one..I thought I cancelled it or something. My apologies. If Admin can delete/merge/move it I'd be grateful.

The mods are lock happy on this forum. I agree that there should not be double post on the same topic but they don't realize that the search on the forum does not work good. They will also just lock a post if they don't like what you are saying, I've seen it many times. We are paying customers but they treat us like minions.

the maya 44 usb is a cheap way of doing it.. it works ok but the quality of the actual box is crap.. I have one and would never go that way again. I also understand that it becomes wonkey after being pluged in and un pluged as you dj.. I had this issue and had to buy a new one.. My second one was upgraded to a better card and was able to be used as a pro recording studio in..
my suggestion is to check out one of the new contolers as they have line in and phono in and then have extras built in and are about the same price..

here is one thing i for got , when you burn your time codes. slow the time down as the faster burn more chance to have them skip. also buy a few different brands of cds. Some will play in cdjs some didnt and took me for ever to figure it out...

@Splao,
Your original post was locked (DDJ-SX review) as questions were being asked in the same manner as the already long running thread that already existed (on the same first page you posted on) . I kindly explained that and gave you a direct link to the other thread.
The moderators hold the rights to move or modify posts in order to keep the discussions clear
This is clearly stated at the top of the forum.
We do, and this has been highlighted to Atomix many times now .....
That is simply not true.
Also not true. Please be aware that myself, other moderators and teamers visit this forum many times a day and the moderation we do is to help people.

Tommy, you will not be able to use these features with the current version that you have. You will need the full Pro version.

I said that already
