alright guys so im looking for a mixer i want it to be like an audio mixer (in style) (a sort of production style mixer with plenty of knobs that i can setup as channels for fl studio). I want to have it function for both fl studio as well as virtual dj. my idea is to assign all of my knobs to do effects and what not as vdj 8 is going to have plenty more capabilities that will eventually use up all of my knobs. (such as pitch change and or loop lengthening for samplers maybe it wont happen to be mappable immediately but i mean it really should be mappable eventually as this would be good for people who only understand working with hardware though i reckon ive learned a lot about operating hardware with software and how it works. Anyways im assumign someones used an audio style mixer to control the multibband eqing effects for vdj ( i think?) I'd like an audio mixer that could handle a mic/ guitar and or synths but would be willing to settle for a controller with many sliders and knobs thats just midi ( with a sound card for guitars/ mics and synths) if this audio/midi mixer doesnt exist. though thinking again now of a possible issue... wouldnt i need a sound card for the mixer anyway and would it have to have an in per channel of the audio mixer? sorry if this a lot guys but im really curious and this would really strengthen my knowledge of bridging the gap of audio and digital.
thanks vdj team and members!

"audio in per channel" is what i was reffering to when saying an "in". i also want to clarify that if i got another midi controller that buttons wouldnt be as much of an issue as i have a nov\tion remote and drum pad to control things and would just like the extra knobs to use for the virtual mixer of fl studio if i can map it in that way. The way im refering to is using sections of the mixer to change different function in different plugin effects within fl studio. I know fl studio isnt your guys program and that i would obviously be mapping it all on my own for that program. I would also be using these knobs coniciding with one of my other controllers for either dj mixing with my timecodes or as two seperate decks of there own (ie deck 3 -4 possibly more decks for sampling with decks). if any thing is confusing please ask for me to clarify!

.......aaaaaaaaaand.........how much are you planning on spending?

[thinks to self] why don't people give a budget when asking what to buy? [/thinks to self]

Well arent we all looking for the bang for our buck? I'm still trying to find something that exists in the way that it can control multiple audio channels and with a push of a button can turn right over to midi. I'd love to spend the least amount possible 200 would be nice but im assuming that something like this would cost more than that so i might just end up making my own midi controller with a bunch of knobs and just buy a better soundcard to run all my inputs. Even if i give you a cost do you know of such a an audio mixer that is production style that can switch over?

If you want to go the midi way get in touch with JBoerlerge from the forum, he was making a plugin I think was called 'midi button basher' that can send midi to a third party synth enabling you to dedicate some controls for one program and some for VDJ. do a google search of the forum as JB had a video of his working prototype.

If you had coin I'd recommend the Allen & Heath Xone 4D as it's the best analog dj mixer ever made with an insane filter with full midi capability on almost all of the mixer's surface and has 2 extra full midi Xone 1D's on either side... Not sure that the 4D can be used with the side controllers used independently so again either JB's plugin of something like BOMES Midi Translator to separate the messages before they get to VDJ.

Also fruity is not so good when rewired into VDJ as there is no sync functionality.. I prefer fruity for making choons but you are honestly better off with ableton if you want to seriously combine the power of a DAW.. Come to think of it you may aswell drop VDJ and just run Ableton, it does everything you could need including video and DMX with the power of Max4Live.

If you just want to use the effects from fruity I recommend trying them out in VDJ first as most VST plugins work natively in VDJ so fruity is not really needed.

Routing solutions will be pretty much obsolete in VDJ8 as Atomix are giving us the ability to ignore controllers.. And I doubt with such an open program Atomix will prevent anyone from being able to map any function of the new sampler... This isn't Traktor and it is in Atomix's best interest to make VDJ compatible with every controller and every style of DJing possible! they are doing a pretty good job so far! ;-)

the thing im looking to do though is have the mixer that is production style in the way that there are a bunch of inputs for guitars and mics though i think those type of mixers are purely anolog?i basically just want 40 assignable knobs to use with vdj while mixing and with fl when producing i dont even thing ill need rewire if i can run 12 channels with 4 knobs each as i could load up samples and cut certain eqs in each deck. then in fl studio i could use the channels to seperate certain plugin settings from different plugins all at one time which would cut production time in half as hands on seems to go quicker then mouse clicking atleast in my case. I think im just going to buy a brain and make a super controllers with a butt ton of knobs sliders and buttons.

So you want a recording studio style mixer with lots of inputs and with MIDI control..........for $200?

Well good luck with that!

One product that comes to mind is the Behringer X32, but you'll have to save up.

Something slightly more DJ like and cheaper would be the Korg Zero 8.
