this is my personal opinion and relates to my experience with the vms4 but im sure that others will relate to what i am saying.

id recommend that everyone stays far away from american audio products, especially when first released.
after purchase of an american audio product you may find that it has a few flaws that were not fixed before the product
is released for sale. this is to be expected as all new hardware have bugs and need either firmware or hardware fixes.
the problem is that american audio will botch the fixes as cheaply as possible and if they cant fix the problems cheeply
they will bring out a new version that has all the fixes needed. so all the customers that have already paid for a working
bit of hardware will be stuck with the option of being left with a flawed unit or replacing it with the new version that is
more expensive on top of losing money on the flawed unit they already have.

they have very little regard for customers once they have your money and only care about new sales.

i also recommend staying away from their products i avoid almost everything from behringer and american audio don't have faith in them and most of the time they feal cheap and a very very poor customer service :(

Well like I said, itd be aimed at the beginner besides it's hardly a controller. Sure it has play and pause, cue points and access to the sampler but there's really not much there to muck up. As far as Behringer goes, I've had a VMX 300 & VMX 1000. Both were great mixers and the fader on the 300 was butter!! While they have had a bad rep so did the software you use, VDJ........ things and people and I will try anything I get my hands on........

The concept is Nice though.........

I also have the VMS4 and I've been a happy user of it for almost 2 years I've never used the mic and I alwayrun trought a mixer when I play out.
The MXR line is realy a VMS4.1 without jogs and some buttons. If you like the VMS4.1 this will be the same. I was seriously considering buying the as a replacement to my VMS4 besause I have 2 Radius 3000 and dont need the jogs on my VMS.

thats not the point, the point is if there is any faults then american audio wont fix them they will simply try to botch
a fix or ignore you. it dosent matter what the product is if you are left with a customer service that simply dosent care
and a company that is more intrestied in new sales than customer satisfaction.

Kinda sounds like Native Instruments service......... but that's neither here nor there. Your haven't even tried and maybe they've learned from past mistakes....... so instead of knocking the shit maybe try it??

Did that scratch at the beginning nearly turn into star wars :)

alas im 1 of the many vdj users that is on low income and a limited budget. so i cant just try the "shit". i had to save up for quite some time
to buy a new controller. and dont have the luxury to chop and change equipment. so for me the vms4 was a luxury.
i was going to go for a hercules rmx as it was a featured controller on this site at the time.

but after seeing the vms4 and being told of what features it had i thought i was getting a great controller.
i was assured that it was fully mapped and would work strait out the box after installing the software it came with.

it didnt

add to that the mic and sound problems and the distortion when using a timecode.

american audio sent me the mic transformer that didnt help and sent me a firmware update version 5.5
that didnt cure the distortion when using timecodes. and after replying that the problem persisted
they stopped replying to my emails.

now some members can afford to buy there "shit" on the hopes that it works and they have learnt the lessons from the vms4
but im betting that 90% of vms4 owners wouldn't trust american audio ever again.

its a shame that they didnt sort out the problem properly as apart from a few problems and really bad treatment of customers
the vms4 is a good piece of kit for its price range. if they had fixed the problems it would have been a great controller

Yep, it terrible when its like that and I feel sorry for you.

I too bough a ADJ light effect and it kept packing up, had to send it back 4 times at my own cost before throwing it in the bin. Theres £200 I'll never get back! absolutely disgraceful.

cheers Charlie :)

i have learned to put up with the problems for the most part.
like i say it is a good controller but not good enough to be used by anyone that dj's away from there bedroom.

but the way AA have handled the problems is far worse than the defects in the vms4. bringing out the vms4.1 is
a clear admission that the vms4 was unfit for sale and failed to meet the standards we all expect. they should be made to
place a product recall of all vms4's and fix the defects. or refund all the units sold
