have serious problems with 7.4 and my DDJ-SX
OS: win7 64 bit.
Steps I did:
- Removed mapper & Device files
- Ran Registry tool and did a clean All
- Removed 7.3 via the uninstaller which by the way also removed all database file on my other internal drives (lucky I had a backup)
- Swapped DDJ-SX into Serato mode (page 26 of the manual) Double checked and it is in Serato mode.
- Installed VDJ 7.4
DDJ-SX is not working correctly with the native mapper.
- Cant swap Cue buttons (only left one is lit)
- No VU meters, no master out, seems like the mixer is not working at all, Volume & fader is moving along with the buttons on the skin
- Checked sound settings and they are OK
- Using DDJ-SX driver ver. 1.000
- DDJ-SX firmware 1.05
used skin: Dark Default HD:1920X1080
What else to check?
users that own a DDJ-SX working without any problem on 7.4 please inform me your firmware version

As I said earlier, can you confirm that the controller is back to Serato mode? I don't have the controller but there must be a way (lights, animation) that shows what mode you are in.
Inviato Fri 22 Mar 13 @ 4:39 pm
Yes I'm pretty sure controller is in Serato mode.
mixer part is not working, but i found out that when I switch the input selection from PC mode to Phono and back to PC, it's all working fine. (have to do this for each channel.
Also VU meter is working perfect. After disconnection I have to execute the same trick to make it working.

Are you using a 2 or 4 deck skin?
If you are using a 2 deck skin then decks 3 & 4 will wrap back around to 1 & 2. This may cause problems if you have switched inputs 3 & 4 to non-PC mode because the SX sends a MIDI message to tell VirtualDJ that the channel is now in hardware mode rather than software, so it will first receive MIDI messages telling it that decks 1 & 2 are in PC (MIDI) mode, then 1 & 2 (Actually 3 & 4) are now in MIC/CD/PHONO mode.
To avoid this, either:
* Use a 4 deck skin.
* Edit the XML of a 2 deck skin you prefer and change nbdecks="2" to nbdecks="4"
* After starting VirtualDJ, switch CH1 & CH2 inputs to PHONO and then back to PC again. This will switch to the channels to hardware source and then back to software again, updating the variable in VirtualDJ for the decks so they work again via MIDI.
We will look into adding a fix for this. However, the DDJ-SX is a 4 deck controller, so is optimally used with a 4 deck skin.

Thanks for this information, this will fix the problem.
I agree the DDJ-SX is a 4 deck controller but there are many DJ's using this controller as a 2 deck where deck 3 is for MIC and 4 for CD or any other type of input.
A fix would be nice so I don't have to follow this procedure every time I start VDJ.
I'm confident it will happen in a next update.

I agree works fine with 4 deck skin. Thanks for temporaly solution. Hope it will be fixed soon.

Same problem here, also noticed this with PHANTOMDEEJAY'S mapper, but I still prefer his and appreciate all the work he put into it,just like the saying if it's not broken why mess with it.I do have a couple of questions though is there any way to have the DDJ-SX's leds blink on remaining so many seconds like the CDJ's do which is also native to Serato DJ, and also I know controllers mimic the software but would it be possible to implement in future release where the meters hold for a longer amount of time like external mixers do to avoid less of a chance of clipping.Thank you and keep up the great work, this is still by far the best software on the market.
Inviato Sat 23 Mar 13 @ 8:50 pm
If you are getting actual software crashes then there is probably some other underlying issue, such as a bad plugin, corrupted music file or a problem with your computer. Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/My%20computer%20keeps%20crashing%20or%20freezing.html
If by 'crash' you simply mean the DDJ-SX doesn't respond correctly, then this is a mapping and/or firmware issue. In other software mode, the jogwheel LED's are controlled by the DDJ-SX's firmware, so won't match the software and can also end up out of sync. The new native mapping can be used in Serato mode which enables VirtualDJ to directly control the jogwheel LED's, so they always stay in sync with the software. However, you will need to bear in mind the 2 deck skin issue and the workarounds for it above (This will be fixed in the next version.)
You can still use Phantom's mapper if you prefer it to the native. That's the benefit of VirtualDJ over other software. You can configure and customise it to suit your own preferences and requirements.
You can make a LED blink when the song is almost finished using songpos_remain 10000ms ? blink : <normal LED action>

Thank you for all your help.No software crash, the controller was just not responding correctly. Will there be an option in VIRTUAL DJ 8,where we could toggle from stereo to mono on the fly?

I am having problems as well. I started a thread in the technical forums if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

We can't tell you what features may or may not be present in v8 - Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/When%20will%20the%20next%20version%20of%20VirtualDJ%20be%20released.html
You can ask for features in the wishes & new features forum.
The jogwheel LED's cannot be made to blink because they are positional - They take a value which determines which position will be shown on the disc (E.g: 3 o'clock.) There is also a pre-programmed Pioneer 'load' animation that can be triggered via LED_LOADED.
However, you could make another LED blink, such as the CUE and PLAY button LED with a fast blink time, e.g:
LED_PLAY_PAUSE: songpos_remain 10000ms ? blink 300ms : play ? on : cue ? off : loaded ? blink : off
LED_CUE: songpos_remain 10000ms ? blink 300ms : cue_stop (You will need to click + and add this LED from the drop-down list.)

I have led's blinking towards the end of track using (songpos_remain 10000ms ? blink : <normal LED action),but what would the command be for individual decks, thank you.
Inviato Tue 26 Mar 13 @ 11:34 am
It will automatically be applied to the appropriate deck if you are mapping it to a LED that's deck-specific, e.g: PLAY button.
Otherwise, you can use deck N songpos_remain 10000ms ? blink : <normal LED action> to make it apply to a specific deck only (Where N is the deck number.)
Blinking jogwheel LED's may also be possible with some changes to the native definition (This will be available in the next version update of VirtualDJ if it's possible.)

An updated version of the native DDJ-SX mapper is now available, which now works correctly when using 2 deck skins:

This will be included by default in the next version of VirtualDJ.

I received my DDJ-SX yesterday but it is not working well with virtual dj. All the two decks seems to be working well but sound is coming out only from the left deck, no sound from the right deck and also no sound from the headphone. I have installed the latest firmware, drivers and mappings, tried all kinds of configuration but sounds comes only from one deck. With Serato, everything works fine. Can someone help me out with this.
