OK need some help...As technology is improving (and Im not able to keep up like I used to) Im not sure on what to do here
Since the purchase of my new gig PC I do not have VGA only HDMI IN and HDMI OUT. The piece I purchased (in subject header) is not doing what i want it to do. I have not contacted customer support yet either, looking for opinions/options here first.
my main concerns are: the one bar I work at has a male VGA cable that comes out of the wall which is hooked to a projector in the ceiling. For the past two years I have been just plugging that in to my lappy - since i dont know exactly what I am looking for I get overwhelmed when searching.
Also, At one of my smaller gigs (trivia) I plug into the tv directly with the video rca which comes out of my vga to componet/composite convertor - how do I satisfy both requirements AND future ones

Have a look on the B&H photo/video website for HDMI -> VGA adapter boxes.
It's not a straightforward thing because HDMI is digital and VGA is analog.

I realize this doesnt help you.. but anyone else thinking of buying a new PC with only HDMI out... DONT!
PROBLEM with HDMI is the copyright protocol thats built into the HDMI spec makes it extra tough to convert it to analog..
having said that, there IS 'HDMI to VGA' converters but they are NOT cheap!..
(not kidding, it might almost be cheaper to take a loss on the laptop and sell it, and find one with VGA out)

Thanks for the help guys...emailed B&H on Friday waiting to hear back
@ Hippy from what I understand they are phasing out VGA all together, dont know if thats truly the case, but I didnt want HDMI, the only thing I could find comparable to what I bough (at Best Buy) was a DELL that had VGA but I am not a fan of DELL.
@Beatbreaker - I like that! thank you for the link. Also you have me and my friend inspired with VPT - Keep the creative juices flowing
