Look at the QSC KW 118. It's in your budget range if you get a re-manufactured one. Normally they are $1399. I'm ordering one next week to match my new KW 122's. It's a nice unit.

I play 200 to 300 people often with my QSC KW181. Pretty pleased, not maxed out either. Highly recommended if you can get it remanufactured or streatch a bit.

I Dj yed for the Military (400 +) guest and My setup was Two Jbl Prx615m speakers and One Qsc Kw181 sub. The system was loud enough. I was thinking about buying another KW181 but, I think what I have is good for now.

not convinced 1 sub is enough but it's a start better than zero subs

Respectfully, Chuck, I disagree. I have one of these and it full on ROCKS! I'm not a fan of Peavey per say. They don't sound very clean. Their mid and high end lack punch and clarity. That being said. My sub has carried 600 people at a wedding reception that was invaded by a second reception who's DJ didn't show up. I thought I was in trouble wattage wise. That sub of mine had dust falling OFF THE CEILING of the venue. Later, I had a pro sound engineer I know walk up and ask WTF was I using? (the label fell of the front years ago). Even he was impressed and, he's done national touring sound for 20 years.

i see your point Tear but I've done some big rooms that were really bad acoustically and that was kinda what i had in mind

in a highly reflective room with barefloors or walls it can be very loud even with a small system

that Peavey has a useable low of 27 hz wow

It's a beast dude....

Hello everyone, I have an Alto 18" powered speaker and I have to say I am pretty impressed with it so far. I have done gigs for 350 people. Now I am speaking from a mobile Dj aspect. You don't need to kill people with bass at a wedding or most mobile gigs. In a club it would be a different story.

ya know Tear .....

that was very muted and polite your reaction to my post....

this is one of those opinion laden topics where everyone and no one is right.....

i was expecting someone to get all aerated and vexed by now.......i feel kinda cheated, don't you ?

anywhoo..... i used to do some pretty big bar mitzvahs and usually with 2 big beat up subs .......

sometimes no room , so the subs were just together in there spot , sometimes had the luxury of spreading them out

Sorry to let you down Chuckles. Want me to argue with you a little bit? Would that help?

HK Audio Elements. Using the Dual 10" at 1250 watts.
