Well I messed up when I ordered some Midi turntable interfaces that are Firewire. Stanton ruins my happiness yet again...
My laptop does not have any such ports, nor does it have an express card slot.
Does anyone know of a USB work a round for Fire wire to USB?
I might have figured out a way a work around. But Doubt it would work.
A usb express card reader - and a firewire express card? Anyone know if that would work?

Unfortunately, your out of luck regarding FireWire to USB. Whether there is an express card adapter I do not know. Recommend a google search or look at the larger computer sites such as tiger direct, newegg, microcenter, etc.

I did find a express card adapter, that is where i ordered the express card and adapter but under further research the two will not now work properly because apparently Express card slots utilize both PCI and USB for their combined speeds. Since the adaptor only interfaces with the USB bus, only usb express cards will work which is confusing, because their is little information available about how express cards actually work but after a few hours or reading pretty much a bunch of repeats of what someone else wrote I found the answer.. the answer is frankly no it can not be done.
So off to looking for older laptops with 1394 port
But, I only wonder why certain audio devices still are being made with such a firewire port. The Firewire port and Express card slot are dead in almost every single consumer laptop being made today!
Problem solved just purchased an older Dell E series laptop.

How is it wicked cool, if it doesn't work with what you have? Your solution, let's buy an older laptop to get it to work. Wow, sheer genius.

If you buy a regular consumer market laptop, then those are the new limited standards you will find, but then there are the "pro" specialty laptops which have the recording industry standard fire wire 1394 port built in or at least have a PCI Express card slot, but you need to research and buy carefully so you don't limit yourself..
Joey is correct. Things like the Express card slots, Firewire are non existent on consumer grade laptops, (even if your laptop is decked out to the max.)
Bad news guys. The VGA port is starting to be phased out too!
So Yes, unfortunately I have high end consumer grade laptops.
I overlooked that the express card slot was missing and the absence of firewire. Those features are still found in Fleet computers (Business Class, which cost considerably more and usually less powerful than the Consumer Grade laptops)
I will keep other snarky comments to myself.

You could not find anything here to help you?

Look into a Dell Latitude E5400 or E6400, E6500. I think they all have pcmcia card slots, and then you get one with a T9600 or T9900 CPU, upgrade the RAM to 4 GB, stick a 1TB Harddrive in, and it's a pretty dam good VDJ lappy. You will want to check to be sure the specific one you get has a PCMCIA card slot, but I think they all do. They also have a built in firewire port, and it would probably work, but you will really want to go get an Adaptec PCMCIA firewire card with a TI chipset. Don't trust the mini firewire ports, and don't trust more generic firewire chipsets, especially when you can get an adaptec with the TI chipset for about $20, with full sized firewire ports.
They can be had for around $150 on Ebay. Given you will need to put some extra in for the 4GB of RAM, and a bigger hard drive, unless you can pick one up that already has 4GB of RAM, and a large hard drive. The T9600 is just a Core 2 Duo, but it benchmarks with the i3 processors, and even a few of the i5's, as it's clocked at 2.8 GHz, and has 6MB of L2 cache. It was a later model Core 2 Duo. It's not the high end of high end by any means, but it's well above what's needed, and should last you a good while.

for $10 bucks, You can get two of the cables. I was reading reviews on how many are saying it doesn't work due to The camcorders usb2 really being a 1394 or vice versa. Since you are going to use it for the firewire turntable, It might work.

No, there is no USB to firewire cable that works. Firewire & USB are two different protocols. For example, firewire is full duplex where USB is half duplex. You can not make a USB port into full duplex by putting a firewire connector on the end, nor can you adapt the protocol by doing so. It's the same idea as making a cable with a 220V plug on one end, and a 110 wall connector on the other, with nothing to change the voltage between. Go ahead, plug your laptop into that and watch it explode. Something similar, though probably not as dramatic may very well happen if you use one of those USB to firewire cables between a USB port and a firewire device.... probably no exploding parts, but quite possibly a useless USB port, and possibly a useless firewire port on the device. $10 just cost you a repair bill for your laptop and the device.
For firewire, you have to have a firewire port, either on your computer, or through a PCMCIA firewire card that you can slide into your pcmcia slot.
