Topic: Recomended wireless mic

I need some recommendations and schooling on wireless mic systems. I am looking for around $200-$300 with a body pack and a hand held. Can you guys recommend any good ones? Should I get UHF or VHF?

I learned the hard way not to use VHF, constantly the sound would go in & out due to interference. I use these now http://www.zzounds.com/item--VOCUHF3200 and they have served me very well, though they are both handhelds but that's exactly what I needed;^]

You need to get yourself into a store and try out a few brands, no amount of text is going to substitute a real time demo. Sounds harsh I know, but it all depends on the equipment you are going to be using it with and the budget you have.

Yep Tayla. Got to agree with that. At 2-300 dollars I am not sure you will get much for your money. Basic Shure and Senhieser UHF units come in at bit above that but you never know. Trantec do some nice mics that wont break the bank. Good deals are there to be found.

BTW UHF all the way :-D

I have just purchased a pair of kam kwm 1940, £129 in the uk, I must admit the build and sound quality are great , much better than I expected for the price, they are 16 channel uhf, signal to noise is good , and no pops or hisses when you switch them on and off.

I am very please with my budget buy !

Personally, I would rather go with a second hand Shure system or similar branded variant. It's quite inexpensive to change the mic 'shell' and replace it with a new one.

These are just a little above your price range but are great value. Very similar to much more expensive models, just with a slightly less powerful transmitter than the G3 series which sells for $600+ I think.

The xsw-35 has the same microphone capsule as the E835 wired mic so you know it will sound good.

I actually opted for for the xsw-65 because it's got a condenser mic in it but they're both good

Here's the laviler version http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/sennheiser-xsw-12-wireless-presentation-set but I bet if you call up your dealer they would be able to order you just the transmitter without the receiver.
