Hey vdj community, I'm looking for some tips on soundcards. I recently sold my hercules 4-mx and am looking to make my own midi mixer with a external soundcard ( which i may mount into the box of the controller). for now im looking for the proper soundcard to use before i make my project. i had a few different m-audio cards in mind but im looking for a 4 input souncard to have the option of using 4 decks or other instruments for live play. never know whats going to happen when your in a live sesh right? so might as well be prepared. any idea is welcome. for now it might only get used with my vinyl and two other controllers i have but one day id like to make a 4 channel midi device and have this soundcard be placed into my device i make.

You are looking for a sound card with more OUTPUTs , not Inputs.

will do! I'm starting with the sound card first and i was looking at a brain v2 but i need cheap sliders and knobs so I wasnt sure where i wanted to go with that. atm i have a uc 33e control from m audio it has a lot of sliders and knobs so i was thinking of using that and my korg padkontrol to make most of my mixer then use a brain jr since its cheapier to get the rest of my knobs and sliders/buttons. only problem with that idea is im worried about device stacking and hurting the board by desoldering it. my idea is to make my device the size of my turntables in hieght and length. I want this to be able to handle four decks whether im switching between two vinyl timecodes or have a second person running to more decks. who knows! only problem is i dont know if i want to stack my midi devices through midi cords or not as i feel like it might affect vdj and my computer and would make the device look ammature. so im stuck on what to do.. v2 brain and a long wait for financially progress or start with devices already owned and get the show on the road?

btw dj dad thanks for those options but i think the audio interfaces and that souncard by ni are way out of my price range otherwise id just buy myslef a sweet mixer.
