I'm pretty sure you need VirtualDJ Pro to send output to an external screen. Won't work on Home Free or LE versions.

Keith is correct, you will need the pro version for output to second monitor.

Depends on what macbook you have, but basically a hdmi cable.
Then extend your desktop to this 2nd monitor (tv) in mac OS, and choose the 2nd monitor as video out in VDJ video settings
Thats it ;)

Some useful info and instructions are also available here.. http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/How%20do%20I%20output%20video%20or%20karaoke%20to%20a%20TV%20or%20projector.html

The graphic that Rune has shown would benefit from being on that wiki page IMO

hi ,
I'm still trying to hook up a external tv for karaoke , i have a mini display port cable for my 2012 mac book pro but i need to connect to a non hdmi tv , i have bought a hdmi to RGB A/V component cable as i only need video displayed (karaoke lyrics ) not audio but doesn't work , no single being received .
I have read this might not be compatable to go from digital to analog . can anyone help ? or tell what cable to make this work .
thanks

You'll need a "PC to TV Converter Box"
there are many depending on your computer and TV connections. I use a Sabrent HDMI to A/V (composite RCA jack) to send to monitors. Karaoke is usually 800x600 or less, so don't worry about it being HD (720x480 or 1920x1080).
You'll need the box, and you'll need to remember to toggle video on from your video card in the video tab in VDJ every time you fire it up. In Windows, you can right click on the desktop and choose video properties to activate multiple monitor mode. I have no experience with Mac.

Wait, first you say you have a display port cable, but then you say you have a HDMI to component (RGB) cable. Does your display port cable have a HDMI connection, on the other end? If you have a HDMI port on your machine, I do not see why the HDMI to RGB cable won't work. I come directly out of my HDMI port to the TV. If he was coming out of a VGA port, then he would need a PC to TV converter. I don't use a MAC, so do not know to configure the second monitor out.

can you tell why i can't choose a 2nd monitor as video in VDJ pro ? the only option is (window) . how do i active the dual display ? I'm using a mac book pro 2012.

I don't use a MAC, but you need to have a dual output video card. What video card do you have? If you are able to attach another video cable, it must have a dual output.
