I've noticed that programs such as Virtual DJ & Serato have trouble calculating the correct BPM of many songs

I have many thousands of songs in my database and I know that lots of them are not the correct BPM.... slow songs at 170 BPM, etc.

Is there a program out there that uses a Database where you can have it scan songs that your have and give you the correct BPM that is listed in the database. Some of the online services... Promo Only for example... show the BPM of songs that they have.

This would be so much better that having Virtual DJ, Serato, etc having to calculate the BPM of each song and getting lots of them wrong or manually tapping out thousands of songs to get the correct BPM.

Thanks,

Dale

Well you could start by Googling for "BPM database". That'll find you a few.

The best way though, is to let your sofware determine the BPM directly from your files. The reason being, the recording you have may not be the same tempo as the recording used by the database.

Variations do happen, intended or otherwise.

One famous example is Good Times by Chic. The version released in the UK was considerably faster than the original US version, because Fred Dove at WEA thought it was too slow.

Mixed In Key is a good one. I use it and it gives you the correct key every time. You do have to pay for it but you are getting the BPM and the Key. It will do the same thing if you don't set it up correctly either tho. If you tell it not to show you anything below 60BPM it will bump them up to 120.

If your just concerned with the BPM then do what DJDad said.
