Hello e youveryone. I'm new to the forum and have a big question. Two years ago after losing my full time job I picked up a trivia gig that I was MC'ing every Tuesday night. My style and game was loved by everyone who attended to the point other local restaurants wanted me as well to the point I'm doing it six nights a week now and still have restaurant owners coming to me wanting to do a game at their place. It has also gotten to the point where I've been getting
With the demand out there for my trivia game I have hired another MC since my current schedule can't accommodate every new request. I will do all the work writing questions and putting music playlists together for the Name That Tune Trivia nights. I will pay the MC $20 an hour and provide the equipment for him to go read questions for a few hours. The bar owner would pay me and I would pay the new MC.
I also don't want the new guy to try and eliminate the middle man and poach the gig. Does anyone have an independent contractor agreement that they could recommend that would cover this from happening? Or any advice you can give to help me get through this new time in my business? Thank

Something called a no compete contract, if you made them your employeer
How effective they really are I have no idea. As they may choose not to compete as an individual but they might go join another company who may pay them better. However, there is all kinds of ways someone could go around your no compete contract anyway. Laws and legal are always full of loop holes and I can think of a dozen different ways to get around a signed No compete contract in a court of law. I personally do not sign no compete contracts. Non disclosures yes I have signed those after I have had a lawyer look them over.
Non disclosure contract may protect you since you are wanting to sub contract out. However, i am guessing if you are subcontracting out. The Sub Contractor will have no desire or would be a complete idiot to sign a no compete paper work.
Though you will have to make it reasonable. Please consult a lawyer in your area as different states have different wording or requirements
