Recently, I decided that as I required a plug-in courtesy of Virtual DJ, to purchase Virtual DJ, as the license would enable me to download this plug-in (napping for a Pioneer DDJ-SB controller BTW). I made the mistake of making the purchase from ebay. Imagine my horror when the copy I received was put together on a DVD with manual instructions on how to install from the various versions compiled on this disk. The straw that broke the camels back was that the licence was already registered, and while the software did work, the license did not serve its purpose what I intended it for - to download plugins and to receive updates as the key is already registered. Ive accepted that I've been burnt, but does the seller have any rights selling it like this? I argued with him that the license is virtually null without the option to get updates, as I don't just want a license simply to drive the software. Could he be in trouble for this? What he has sold is just as useful (or useless) as a cracked copy

Contact support if I was you, with the serial number the guy gave you. They will do what they need to do.
My guess also is that you paid considerably less for the ebay purchase than a genuine one from this site. As a rule, if it sounds to good to be true, it nearly always is!!

You should open a case on ebay and request your money back.

Thanks guys. When I suggested that the key was rubbish on the feedback, his answer was "No faults with the software in any way. buyer didnt ask if he could register key". Er, I should not have to ask this. I think it would have been good manners just to say that it is already registered. Whatever anyone sells, I think its only right that they point out the faults rather than rely on the defence that "buyer did not ask about it". Then again, I take some responsibility. Should have used the 'ask the seller a question' option - IF i knew what could be wrong.

If it is a Professional. Full version open a eBay case - send them a link to the End User License: http://www.virtualdj.com/atomixproductions/disclaimer.html
Explain them that the Software License could NOT be sold so he can't sell it !!!
As he did he cheated you cause you did not own any rights on the Software at all. So it should be possible to be refunded.
If he sold you a controller with LE version then he did not cheat you.

Thanks for your advices. I successfully have had a refund after I pointed out that it was wrong. He kind of pleaded naivety stating that he did not know that he was in the wrong. However, upon doing another search on ebay today, I came across this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Virtual-Dj-Pro-/151278997010?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item2338ee4e12 , which is simillar to my seller in description, price and location - but different name . So while he may previously not have known he was breaking the rules, he obviously has chose to ignore my heads-up

He is selling a copy of the software with an illegal serial number so he is obviously breaking the rules.
Maybe one for the Atomix piracy guys to take up with Ebay.

Just proves the point that to be a pro you have to be willing to invest in yourself.I would tell anyone if you want a professional version of VDJ buy it from the Atomix website and do not DJ for free.Your time is valuable and clients who appreciate this don`t mind paying for services.
