I noticed the search changed in version 7.
is it possible to have search results come back when for example searching for: the carpenters, the search results includes: carpenters - we've only just begun.
i.e. anything with "the" in front of it too, i have artist, title, file path, file name, search in drives, search in folders ticked but still doesn't bring back anything that doesn't have "the" in front of it.

Why don't you just type "carpenters"? The "the" is superfluous.
Search now works much better than it did before because it treats each search word individually, so you can type "britney baby" and it'll find Britney Spears - ....Baby One More Time without you needing type the whole thing (or words in the correct order).
If you absolutely must have the exact thing then simply use quotes around your string i.e. "the carpenters".
