I can't get enough of it. Best DJ software out there. Works better with my controller than the bundled software that came with it. True plug and play . Other than the software that my controller came bundled with, VDJ8 had everything mapped to perfection. Since I've got back into dejaying, I've been using one of the other major DJ software packages. According to that software company's website, they had a controller mapping file for my new controller that I just purchased (the controller came bundled with the other major DJ software). I loaded the mapping file and nothing really worked. I don't have the time and patience to become a controller MIDI mapping expert. That isn't what I was expecting when I purchased the DJ software. VDJ8 had the mappings setup perfect.
A few things that I wished VDj8 had (or I've yet to figure out). And the most simple one would be how to do a search for something, and have it look through the entire collection? I keep music in multiple sub-directories, the other software that I used had "Collection" at the top of the tree, and gave a complete count of the media files. VDJ8 searches seems to be limited to the current folder, crate, playlist,etc.. and never display's the entire collections song count. So searches tend to be a pain. And I'm not dumping everything into one bucket (not an option).
Only other way I can think of is to import my entire collection into iTunes. After import, VDJ 8 should be able to see all the media. Importing into iTunes isn't an option because I would have to take each of the songs out of the 100's of directories that my music is contained in now. I just wished that VDJ8 had the ability to do directory level searches (to include sub-directories). With the other software you can assign music directories, all the music is analyzed (even the sub directories). A master list so to say. VDJ8 can only analyze files in the current directory and will not parse down into the sub directories. When I choose "my music" folder with VDJ8 to analyze the media. VDJ8 doesn't see a single file because all of my music files are in sub-directories under "My Music".

First, itunes can add all of your library without reorganizing it.
Regardless of that, VDJ can display and search your whole library once it has been all added to the database.
Take a look at the user manual for addin and anylizing your media.. I believe its pages 47 & 48.
Also, check out the My Library plugin in the download section of this site. It has a lot of filters and folders pre made that help you view and sort your library. Creating your own filter folder to display everything in your library is also possible. There is information in the manual for filter folders as well. I am not at my PC right now to recite the exact syntax needed for the folder.

And make sure you set the option "searchInDB" to 1 (or yes. Don't know what who it's named in VDJ atm).

Thanks guys. I'll dive into the manual. Right now I'm trying to get my DVS setup (2x Denon 3900 + Denon X1700 Mixer) going. I'm close but I'm going to need the manual for that. Wish me luck. VDJ8 is it for me right now so I'll have to learn it. Thanks again.

Hallo , sorry i say it in german,
Hi there,
I'm still undecided what with the VDJ 8 has prudential! I have to say that this tool of mine older version is perfectly adequate for this type work that I do with it, since I live in the producer scene I'm more create and develop my own notes, tunes or songs with other programs, I can only eigendlich say for household use or for practice because is boring. but to be honest it is in itself a very good for me but I can program and do not want to talk bad it also bothers me or is something missing in here so I'll ask exactly what is my version 6 different need something from the 8 I or what makes the 8 better and more interesting? this is my question because I do. nowhere a complete guide me just say here that's better than what I have if this tool a voice recorder backround funtikon has, in other words, song running and I can only say the rest record is not present then I invite my tool I did not mean the normal voic function that does not bringts. but in great whole, I like this tool yet

Hello DjMoimki,
There are a whole lot of stability and audio engine improvements over version 6. I highly recommend you give it a try.
There is a German forum here that may be easier for you to communicate with.
