Personally i use standard good quality USB cables.
I don't go bottom price and i certainly don't pay ridiculous amounts for a cable.
I've never been let down yet - always carry 3 spares with me also.

I have never had a problem with USB leads. No point in them being gold plated at all. Just an excuse to bump the price up!

The digital message through USB is important and I'd always avoid cheaper products, but no need to go mental. Analogue issues are normally the route of reduced quality to a sound system.
Out with hardware I make sure my audio cables and connection are the highest quality, also all connection and cables for AC power in too. The cleaner your electrical supply is going in the better the audio going out.

Yep oxygen free copper gold plated is bollocks for standard equipment, the PCB internal copper is cheap (sometimes Aluminum) and fastened down with solder. Shielding matters but audiophile grade stuff only matters once you get into the realm of audiophile audio systems, Hifis that cost £10,000+ not PA rigging.
