Topic: Do playlists affect hard drive storage?

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hi guys!
I am aware this sounds like a daft question so please bear with me. When creating playlists or crates are you actually making a copy of the file (and doubling the storage space of that file), drawing a file from its original location or just creating a link to the original file?
I hope the question makes sense. The reason I ask is that I am trying to do some housekeeping of my hard drive and deleting files that appear several times and I don't want to delete anything important.
Thanks for your input

it's just a link

Playlists are links to your actual files. A playlist will consume some space on your hard drive but it's only a few kilobytes.
Virtual Folders inside VirtualDj are also text files that contain links to your files. They consume pretty much the same space as playlists
Favorite Folders inside VirtualDj are just text files that have a link to the actual folders on your drive. They usually consume only a few bytes.
Finally Filter Folders are also text files that contain the query of the filter. They also consume only a few bytes.

Don't forget the history files.
They are basically the same as Playlists.
