pretty sure I was reading in another post that there is a skin for version 8 that is a version 7 skin can anyone confirm this?

You can still use VDJ 7 skins in 8. Most of the functions work as they did in VDJ 7, but a few things have changed.
You can even use older skins - but the further back you go, the less likely they are to work fully/correctly.

As a Pro Full Licence holder you can download the "old" skins from here:
http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/skins.html
once dl and installed you find them in config/ skins tab
