Anyone aware of a good limiter compressor plug in or a standalone that could be used with VD7 to warm up the sound of MP3's

In my experience, most of the prerecorded music is already severely compressed. To me, warming up the sound is more of an EQ or effect thing.
I use compressors on individual tracks like a guitar, drums, vocals etc. to get things to sit nicer in a mix during live sound or recording, but not on something already mastered.
Am I understanding you correctly?

I'm with Blckjck...
Compression on the mastersignal tends to level out the dynamics of the sound. Depending on how much compression is applied, it will amplify the mid- and highrange of your sound and limit the lowrange (or keep it at the same level it was). A limiter can help protect your speakers, but that is a way of making your set foolproof.
I'm using compressor/limiters, but only on the kick and the bass if I work with a band. It makes them tighter and clearer. For warming up the sound of your MP3's I'd rather look at a processor like an enhancer/exciter.
