Why some of my Video Clips plays the first time you execute, but then after it just a frozen frame or black screen?

Only way I can re-activate the clips is by going to a different group execute any of the working clips, then go back to the one that has a frozen/black frame and activate it and works again.

If I deactivate and reactivate, its frozen again.

I re-installed directx9.0c (june 2010) and still no work.

Also installed the latest v2362.1034, still no good.

Another thing I notice is that, when playing a clip on slot 3, you can select any slot after 3 and it will display that, but if you select a clip less thatn 3 (let's say select 1 or 2) it will not work, it continue playing the clip on slot 3.

So if you are playing a clip on slot 10, you can't play anything on any slot before 10.

The clips in questions works on my desktop PC (home). I'm trying to get it going on my work Asus Laptop.

I have tried all I can think off. Since I never connect my work laptop on the net, I am now connecting it to do some UPDATES.

Let me see how this goes.
 
just finish updating the Video diver, clips still not working.

Now doing the update on the OS (last update was 5/2012), so it over 1GB of updates coming.

When this is done, I hope it solves the issue. I just don't understand why clips works at the first time, then it does not second time around or third....and so until I change group and play something there then go back.
 
I take that back about what I said about my Desktop (home pc) working. After I went to the config/settings and set the clip to loop/no audio or anything even taking a icon shot for preview and after saying yes to save changes, clip plays the first time then second and so forth NO GOOD.

My work laptop is still updating and now I'm beginning to think that when it's done, it will be the same (no progress). I hope the updates did not screw up anything (been working since 5/2012).
 
ok after 2.5 hours of update, like I predicted NO PROGRESS....

I guess the famous workaround will be, Dont' use those CLIPS...
 
Can you send me one of the clips that is not working?

all this clips play fine if loaded on any deck.

1. add it to any slot on any Sampler Group

2. activate it (don't go to the config yet to see if it works). My desktop work and my work laptop did not. But after I went to config and simply pick any option to change and save it, it won't work on the desktop.

I have about 5 clips I found acting weird.

even tried to re-encode it different fps and resolution, it still freeze (all mp4 format).


just re-encoded it to MPG and this one seem to work with no problem.
also re-encoded to MKV 1280/720 (wow big HD space it takes take 4 times more space). Works no problem.

So something with MP4 and why it works the first time and not second time or so.. after.
But all my other clips are also MP4.

Very strange.
 
Hi guys don't know if this will help especially if you have boat loads of these clips, but ever since v7 clipbank had problems with greyed out slots I started making all of my clips in HD wmv, it cured the greyed out slots and haven't had a problem loading them since.

If you don't use the tag information for your clips in MP4's then maybe's it might be the way to go in the future until there's a fix available.

Quick solution to the problem... brill.

Just to confirm the above, loaded test file in editor and didn't show in preview window and saved, pressed start in sample bank and worked fine, second and subsequent attempts failed just a frozen screen.

Same as above but with file converted to HD wmv file, showed in editor preview window and worked every time when file activated in sample bank.

wonder if this related to this behavior about playing vids on any decks.

It's not like you going to play the same vid after you finish but I just notice and just wondering.

So here it is.

When the video is finish playing, it will show the first frame, in this case a pic not a black screen), but then when you play it second time around, it show a black screen. If you play again, when it finishes, it will show the image....and so back n forth (it alternates).
 
Yep, with your test file it was a frozen image on the second and subsequent tries, but with those type of clips I'd just fire them off in your sampler and not a deck.

I know Adion is fixing it probably as we speak but since I started years ago making all my "clipbank" files in HD wmv format I've never had a problem in any player with them. Maybe's you might consider doing the same for future sampler clips, output quality is good as well.

I meant regular VIDEO's. Fire up any video you have on any deck and play it, let it finish and see. Then replay it till it finish and you should see a different result.
 
Ok, I have v8 on my desk top and only use v7 at gigs, just tried mp4 and started each time on desk top after four attempts, sorry, not replicating your problem on the decks.
 
I guess I did not explain well.

Deck will play the videos with no problem at all.

I'm talking about let your video finish (stops) playing, then see the Video Window what it look like. Then play the video again and let it finish (stops) and see the video Window.
 
I'm getting ready for a sweet 16 gig now. I will follow up on this thread afterwards.

I will do some testing more tonight and tomorrow.
