Hi everyone. I've been a happy user of vdj for 6 years now and after a short break I'm getting back into djing at functions like birthdays and weddings. I use a hercules 4mx which I had from my clubbing days and works ok, but what is the equivalent or slightly better these days. I'm not really that fussed about 4 decks and never really bothered about loops or effects,despite it seems to be the growing trend! I had a look at the pioneer xdjrx but felt a bit underwhelmed by it and preferred the ddj sx2 by the side of it

This question is a matter of opinion and use. Each person is going to throw something out there that best suits them. Here is what u have to ask yourself and based on your answers that should help you make a decision.

You mention mobile gig so I would imagine you want something portable, easy to set up and light.
You mentioned you are not all into the bells and whistles like on the high end controllers. So don't gravitate to them just to look cool or legit in anyone's eyes.
Stick with the dependable brands Numark, Pioneer, Denon, Hercules, etc.
Look at cost points. Whats the max you want to spend?
It would help a lot if it was natively compatible with VDJ. Saves you a lot of head aches
Do your internet research. Google the controller read posts / reviews, watch videos

I have been in it for 18 years. I use a Hercules RMX2 for my mobile gigs and I actually use the Numark Mixedge for the club. They are not fancy, but they are functional and serve my needs. Yeah I get crap from other Djs but my crowd dances and I have no issues functionally what so ever.

Sounds like great advice to me.

I'm solely a Denon guy, so if you have any questions on any Denon gear, let me know!!!

@dcomo

Any interest in soon to be released Denon MC4000? If so why?
