Topic: Win 10 and the retreat to Win 7

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

My experience of 10 was not good.
I'm glad to be back on 7.

It is interesting that whilst using Win 10 & VDJ 8 I found it hard to refuse updates. I kept setting the VDJ option to no updates, and no beta versions, and it kept changing to YES.
Hm anyway back in 7 no means no updates.

If anyone can verify this I would be pleased.
I kept changing the settings, and they kept changing back.

i just refused my updates and everything working ok, but i am using build 2325.1043.
i refuse to update V8 coz its working fine for me

bigron, maybe you need to set admin permissions on your vdj folders in win10 to save this settings, maybe this is the cause for this concrete issue.

A little vdj window always appeared on starting informing me there were updates, I could refuse. However this window should not have appeared since in the advanced options I had said no to updates, and beta versions. It was these options that kept changing.

It takes a long time for me to become confident in my setup, and I don't want it changing.

I was annoyed to find multiple entries in the Win10 services for the Xbox3.
It had default rights to pass through my firewall, and an entry in device manager.
I don't have an Xbox3.
They are compromising Win10 to leverage their games console.

The number of apps with default firewall rights was ridiculous.

Once the skilled get around to optimizing Win10 then it will be suitable for the DJ who wants 100% reliability.

Note: I'm becoming worried that an internet connection, and 100% reliability are not compatible.
I might be able to use cu for awkward requests switching the internet on, and off to suite.
It is my decks which seem prone to instability, not my mc6000, they use different but almost identical laptops.

There are no entries related to Xbox in my device manager, so it is not something that comes with windows 10 by default.
If you don't have an xbox, it may be something that comes with other software you have installed.

I'm minimal on software, however on my backup laptop I do have Ableton which I regard as fine software which minds its own business.

Interesting ..check your services, two or 3 are Xbox3. Let's confirm what I have seen.
A correction on "device manager" is due, it was "devices", and the Xbox, a couple of printer entries, and if I remember right my main stuff appeared.
The default firewall settings related to the Xbox need confirming.

I don't deny I was messing with, and rooting around Win10.
it reminded me of a bloated Vista with the Linux Ubuntu shop, and cloud.

I do have an agenda, I want to use my decks for a wedding, however they must be as reliable as my mc6000.
Obviously I have used them before successfully, however in the past I've had little problems, such as taking 15 min to configure.
The extra USB complexity seems to slow me down. I have little time..what I use needs to work instantly.
Mine are only simple decks, the dns1200's, but I seem to be becoming very fond of them, which means I want the mc6000 level of reliability.

There are 3 Xbox Services, however they are set to start 'Manual', and are not running at the moment for me, so it doesn't look like they are hurting or bloating anything if you don't have an xbox.

We have different interpretations on what bloat is, I agree that they were not running, however they mean more registry entries to be queried, hence in my eyes more bloat.

I grant that you're the expert, and that I should defer to your wisdom on such issues.
