If you extend the capabilities of your laptops by adding a powered USB hub then you may be moving beyond the manufacturer's design specifications.
You cannot just use a 7 port, 10 port hub or whatever and expect it to work.
It may work, but that's not guaranteed.
When using gang sockets we face exactly the same problem.
If we plug in too many electrical items the fuse will blow.
Treat both electrical gang sockets and USB hubs with respect.
In both cases you cannot just plug in whatever you want, you need to think !

Got any facts to back up this statement???
Your gonna have to post facts Ron, you can't just say something and except us to take your word for it.
And I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure you posted this because of my situation with has yet to proven that USB or having to many things plugged is the actul cause of windows throwing up an error and closing VDJ.......

here's the FACTS -> A USB network is built from USB hubs connected downstream to USB ports, which themselves may stem from USB hubs. USB hubs can extend a USB network to a maximum of 127 ports. The USB specification requires that bus-powered hubs may not be connected in series to other bus-powered hubs.

draw from it what you will not taking sides just providing facts

I've never had issues with any USB peripherals that would cause crashes, I use a lot of them and have done since I started DJing from a laptop in 1999. I currently use a 7 port USB2 hub with no problem.
This is just Ron trying to win the award for the most pointless postings yet again.

Kradcliffe you like stirring things up, but you rarely offer anything positive.
You do not run a complex system like Beatbreaker.
You just plug in your MC6000, or whatever. Easy.
You even discounted the value of the sampler in one of your earlier posts, and it was clear you don't use it to maximum effect.
That's ok, you don't have to use the advanced features of VD8.
However don't then compare yourself to myself, or Beatbreaker.
You take a prudent simple path.

+1 for "You take a prudent simple path."
To the young, it's a good path to take.

If your gonna use me as an example atleast let me know your gonna do it.
I still stick by statement, if your gonna try and tell everyone what they should or shouldn't do atleast back it up.
Now as far as my crashes go shit was all good up until a few updates ago and I'm talking VDJ updates!! So yeah this is an Atomix problem.
And why in the hell would anybody want to use 2 soundcards!?!? This is even more stress on your machine so again I'll continue to use 1 soundcard and that's from my mixer!!
Another reason for me using my mixer with a soundcard in it is because it is a midi mixer and since I'm 95% video gigs I need a way to control the video crossfader!!
As for not giving a shit about what I do that's a lie and my inbox proves it!! Oh and you also jumped in the thread which I told you I didn't want you cluttering up my thread which must have pissed you off which lead to you posting this thread........
Have a nice day and eat a bag of carrots!!

Really? +1 your own comment? Start a blog or something please; it's tiring sifting through your drivel while I try to keep up with the rest of the VDJ world.

For instance the rapid, and prolonged movement of a jog wheel requires a lot of data to report its movement. It is impossible to do a 1 to 1 replication of a jog wheels movement in any software. If an attempt is made then one jog wheel could crash the combined computing power of our world.
Actually, the amount of data send by a jogwheel isn't that much...
USB 2.0 is able to transfer 480 MBit/s.
That is 60 MByte per second.
You would have to spin that joghweel really really fast... but not even come close to the computer power of this world.
Inviato Mon 28 Sep 15 @ 4:04 pm
Latency is a measure of response time. If set too low it can cause VDJ sound distortion or even a crash....
Inviato Mon 28 Sep 15 @ 4:14 pm
@PachN perfect 1 to 1 correspondence is impossible. The better the response the greater the demand on a computer's resources.
Things are configured in such a Try way as to not demand the impossible.
It's a trend I'm trying to highlight.
Do not expect a jog wheel to crash every computer in our world anytime soon.
Respect... I know you're very, very good technically.

If you could lock it that would be good.
This is only my opinion "Powered USB hubs should be chosen, and used with great care."

Just like everyone to take another look at this link. This will be more informative, from people that know more about this, than we do. Make up your own minds.
