hi
I've been informing some friends and family (that are not djs..) that im planning to become a professional dj eventually
and many have told me to change from win to mac.
i've always used windows since i learned how to use a pc.
its all about the sound performance, some old friends told me to just buy an extra soundcard
(because we used to do flight simulation and it works better with windows)
I dont really know what to spend on when ill get the money,
going to mac for me is like quiting mozzarella cheese for goat cheese, looks nice but dont know about the taste..
thanks for your help :)

I've seen/read that some Mac owners bootcamp it to run Windows but, never heard/read of anyone having a PC making it run MAC.
I use a PC, no complain.

Mac and PC have the same hardware inside the only difference is the software. I've seen it said a few times vdj runs better on PC. Maybe its true who knows

Macs are good machines but a well built PC handles the job just as well.

PC all the way.
Macs are expensive and not upgradeable as they are glued together. You will get a far better Windows laptop for less money.
MacOS is confusing and horrible, and VDJ runs better on Windows.

That's your opinion, but not my experience.
I changed from PC to Mac and will never return.
And I know how often I spend much money for changing Windows + office, and if you see what you get if you retail a 5 year old macbook...but come on, not again the mac or win discussion.
Please.

As has been mention before both use approximately the same hardware. A Windows based system offers greater flexibility but demands a higher level of operator skill. Musicians like Mac's because there basically plug and play.
It's down to your needs, and skills.

If you are planning to become a dj.
Just use your pc for a while, get experience in djing and soon enough you will find the perfect system for you.
Please note that not all plugins, extensions and helpful third-party Programms are available on both systems.
Just buy a decent piece of hardware, a software licence for vdj and start practicing.
No need for a new pc system at the moment.

I've used PCs since the early 80s but always fancied a Mac.
5 years ago I bought a mid 2010 MBP 15" i7 Quad Core, but, I also boot camped it with Windows 7. I have VirtualDJ on both the Mac & PC side and have DJed with the PC version for most of the last 5 years mainly because I was a 100% video DJ. The PC version has lots more transitions, plugins, etc. for video DJs.
I don't use video anymore as I've changed from the Nightclub market to the Wedding market. It is now a level playing field and can use either PC or Mac for DJing. Recently I had a major PC OS problem at a wedding and was able to switch to the Mac side for the full night. For several months now I cannot see any performance difference between the Mac and PC versions of VDJ.
There is the obvious price difference between Mac & PC, but, if a Mac is boot camped with Windows it is then two computers in one.
I'm still using my mid 2010 MBP for everything i.e. I use the Mac side at home for all computing. I only use the PC side for DJing but may change to the Mac side now that I have upgraded my Mac OS to El Capitan.

It looks like your friends and relatives have seen more events with DJ than you have that's why they're giving you this suggestion.
There's a reason why you pay so much for that shiny Apple Logo. You need to experienced the difference whether to hate it or love it.
As for now, take your time and start with what you have and I am pretty sure you'll come accross with this question again along the way of your journey.

Maybe on your Retina display computer, but the output is based on your video card, so your statement is misleading at best.
This is my take. I don't care what other people use. I don't care what you use. It does not affect me one way or the other. However, you asked for our opinions, and have received a lot. These are the facts. Use what works for you, not what works for Harry. There is no doubt that the Mac is a great running machine, but so is my ASUS and many other computers. I used a desktop from 2000 until last December, and only suffered a cracked motherboard one Friday night, changed it Saturday morning and was playing that night. If you ask most of the Mac users here, you will see that they are boot camping their machines with Windows. What?????? That must be some kind of Dr. Frankenstein shet. You will never see me bash one over the other, not even our software competitors. Everything I have said is a fact (except we all know that Dr. Frankenstein only works with corpses and has retired). I have nothing to gain, not trying to impress anyone, belong to some kind of gang, and labels don't put any more money in my pocket. I am glad to see that you will stick with what you have for now, because that's what works for you, and not be swayed by some voodoo cult, mumbo jumbo from either side. Good luck.

What I don't get is (Mac fanboys) swear by apple, but always boot camp into windows ? If windows is crap and macs are so much better then why even bother with windows since ya seem to think so highly of your simple apple logo ?????

Sorry, I hate discussions about Mac & Windows, but this reaction is to easy. My mac is NOT bootcamped, so no need to say ALWAYS. VDJ is the exeption in the music-world: it's almost the only music-software that works better in windows-environment. It has more features in windows, and is better developed. VDJ for Mac is not at the same level, certainly if you use video. But most producing and dj software runs splendid on a mac.
Just use what you like or/and what you have.
