Recorded sets or mixes over an hour - the waveform now loads in it's entirety. Just loaded one of my 6hr sets and the waveform fully loaded after about a minute or so. I like that a lot

This may help those using Mixed in Key.

I wonder if that was addressed with the stream waveform.

must be, I just went on to my dj laptop and didn't do the update and the same 6hr mix didn't load the waveform at all, after the update it loaded the whole waveform after 67 seconds ish

The new version still has a setting for maximum preload length so this may be a bug.
I'm guessing if it loads really long mixes then they sit in RAM which is not great for users with low spec machines?

I would think they could load the whole wave form without loading the completed file.
Inviato Thu 17 Dec 15 @ 6:48 pm
That would mean loading (decompressing) the whole track to RAM then dumping it again to keep only the preloaded part?

I have problem with this 2693 build!
Virtualdj not want restart after update. Trying to download the build as zip and install the virtualdj.exe, get the same problem.

VirtualDJ - VirtualDJ startup problem
Warning: start up of 0 is taking a long time!
Going back to Build 2587 without problem.

I have left my primary machine on the previous build as I have a 13 hour gig tomorrow.
Inviato Thu 17 Dec 15 @ 9:01 pm
Thirteen hours?!
I'm pleased to see the "key from tag" option. Thanks Atomix!

Yeah, it's in the same venue but 2 separate gigs. I start at 4.00pm in the bar then when the band come on at 10.30pm I move to the restaurant. Thankfully I'll get breaks during their sets but it's a 3.00am finish.
Normally I just work 10 to 3 but being mad Friday and all that .......

Memory usage is still the same as before, songs longer than the max preload length still get only a small part loaded into memory enough for playback.
The new thing is that in the meantime the waveform for the entire song is calculated. This does mean the full song is decoded a second time, but does not require the entire song to be stored in memory.
This should reduce the need to increase the max preload length, thus improving usability on computers with small amounts of memory.

Can you try to rename your settings.xml after the update and see if it starts then?

So why is this not detailed in the changelog?

Ah, OK. That to me reads "streaming" as in songs being cached from Content Unlimited, not ones on your hard drive.

I did a video to show this but the youtube Gestapo took it down really quickly (something about copyright bla bla). Both these live recorded sets loaded on my laptop in under 2mins, the 6hr one loaded in 1min 20seconds, the 3hr one loaded in 22 seconds. I clicked through each set at random points and the song played instantly with no lag or gap. Dunno why I'm showing you this apart from to show you it works brilliantly... I do have 16GB of RAM - so that may be why it worked so well

I rename my settings.xml after the update, stopping the virtualdj.exe prozess and restart virtualdj build 2693. Now its running with a new settings.xml. Bad is to change all settings I make it in the 2587 version. Needed a lot of time to reseting all my parameters I make (Browser, Video etc..) !
Why its happens that sometimes I must delete the settings.xml after a new update ? Have you added some new settings in the latest build that not was inside the old 2587 ?
From build 2587 to 2693 it is a big jump !
Mike
