As some of you know I've had my far share of problems with VDJ 8 and have always let it be known that I wasn't happy about it. Some of my struggles were my own fault, some were the plugins I use and YES some were actually VDJ's fault.
Well I was the guy who used VDJ everyday but would never use 8 live until it passed a series of my "stress" test.
VDJ finally stood up to my test and I have now used 8 live twice and yes just this past New Years was one of those times.
VDJ 8 was ROCK SOLID, the night went flawless and trust me I demand alot out of my plugins and VDJ.
So id just like to say "Thanks" to the guys behind the scenes and also "Thanks" to the all the mods for putting up with my bitchng and complaints.
Well done fellas!!
There are still things id like to see added but as of this moment VDJ is stable as hell and that's what I like!!

Totally agree Huey.
I don't use plugins or video, but V8 has been stable as hell. Every gig I have done this year has been with V8 and totally flawless apart from one issue which turned out to be the SX2 Asio drivers.
We are obviously not aware of all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. Like Huey I have been critical in places but it is meant to be constructive. Well done guys!

OK, who hacked my tablet because this has got to be some kind of pucking joke. Oh wait..............it's that crack that I was smoking last night, and I am not really here but on some alternate universe, because there is no way the two of you are posting sweet, butterfly riding unicorn post. I have got to go to rehab because these drugs are not working anymore.
Glad things are working out for you guys, all the best.

That crack does crazy things to people, lmao!!
My only issue now, is do I update to the next version when it comes out, lol!!
No I probably will because I have since long deleted 7. No sense in keeping when its not gonna be built upon anymore.

i,m still waiting to go to 8.1 on my main machine, looks good as not many bugs being reported, but 8 is working fine, do i update when it does what i want in version 8?
Inviato Mon 04 Jan 16 @ 11:23 pm
Yes, there is a reason they update the software. You may not experience an issue doing what you do now, but you may try something new, and find a fault. These updates continue to fine tune the software.

Ok the above clip is just showing how hard I push my machine.
I'll tell you everything that's running here.
First I'm using a Pioneer setup, 2 CDJ 850's and a DJM 850 all 3 hooked up and pushing midi as well as being my soundcard. And then my favorite piece, my DDJ-SP1, love that thing!!
TellyVisuals and 3 instances of TellyMedia running. As you can I have 3 different cameras sending video into VDJ and 1 is even being used as an AudioOnlyVisual. With TM I have animated logos running and well as pics/video clips rotating (top left corner a video clip is playing). I also have text messages coming threw to the screen on the bottom.
I then have another soundcard hooked up for recording the sound out of the mixer.
Now I must admit I don't normally play out with this much running but for the most part its almost everything I take with me except Im not recording and usually only 2 cameras running.
This clip was record ed using VDJ's internal recorder!! I know that was short but I have a few 2 hour video sets recorded and VDJ didn't even glitch!!
So once again, Thank you for putting up with me and well done Team!!

What's the spec of the computer you're using to run all that stuff?
Inviato Sat 16 Jan 16 @ 8:33 am
Not that beast of a machine IIRC.
Should be a lower end i7, at least 8 GB RAM and an nvidia 745m.

Beatbreaker got my attention with the reference to the ddj sp1. I've just been looking through its vdj manual and was suitable impressed. It's ideal for using vdj8 with cdj's.
It's main limitation is that it only supports 16 sample pads.
However 16 pads is the default number which vdj8 supports.
I have an early version of the Atomix Instruments sample set which contains more than 16 samples, however all the recent vdj8 updates delete it, and reduce the number of samples to less than 16.
I still believe the ideal number of samples pads is 32, anyway that is the main reason I will continue using the Akai mini.

The only bad thing I've noticed about using the 3rd camera for AOV is that sometimes it doesn't hook up, meaning I don't get anything but a blank screen.
I'm no computer expert by any means but I think that maybe I'm starting to bottleneck the USB port and its dropping the camera.
Other then that its pretty nice. I've ordered another camera so all 3 will be the same, hopefully it'll fix the not hooking up problem I have sometimes.

Which cameras are you using, and what video capture device? Oh, and how do we get in touch with that DJ?

Are you using USB3? I've had real real good luck with my Anker 7 port USB 3 hub.
Two capture cards, Audio-6 timecode, tethered access point with SMS, DMX dongle, and even the occasional external drive. All without delays or issues.
Inviato Sun 17 Jan 16 @ 8:53 pm
I'm using 2 Logitech c270's and some cheap Microsoft ball looking webcam.
They are plugged into a Powered USB 3 10 port hub which is then plugged into my USB 3 port on my laptop.
Ok I don't know what you mean when you ask what "capture cards" I'm using??
@AMAHM, I'm working on a new demo DVD which is why my contact info is/was everywhere, lmao!!

Some people, like me for example, use capture cards to get a video feed from a standard camera. As your using USB web cam's, you don't need capture cards.
Inviato Sun 17 Jan 16 @ 10:54 pm
Ahh, yeah these are just high def webcams that actually work surprisingly well in low light.
Thanks for the info on the capture cards though, I thought that's what you guys were talking about but I wasn't sure.
