lads got ddj sx today.
is there midi mapper as cant find it.also skins
also can you map buttons in 8 just like in 7.
only really map loop 4 8 16 ect and a few samples.

You really need to read the manual, and decide if you are going with version 7 or 8. Trying to set up both will confuse the hell out of you.

dj in norway i dont really use rolls ect although could be fun.
just used to having buttons linked for loops ect.
not a fancy dj just straight forward.
ill have to look at vids for samples ect as reading not my strong point.

So why did you go for the SX instead of something more basic. It's not the easiest controller to understand..... especially the effects mapping.

Have the sb also pal but i have my hd2500 and djm5000 years now and wanted a change.lime the look and feel of sx and also 4 channel so i can hook up 2nd laptop for karaoke ect.
The effects area is the part that will test patience ok.
but 8 seems hard to be able to map

Basically mapping is the same as in v7.
Only the config window changed :)
The really hard part is the different modes on the SX which makes the mapping scripts relatively complexe.

how can i stop vdh8 making a new xml file each time it closes already copied xml v6 from 7 to foldet

The SX2 already has loop buttons anyway, why do you need more?
Which XML are you talking about?
If it's the database then it uses the V7 (6xml) to create database.xml but it only does this once.

He's probably meaning the mapping, which makes a new (copy) file if you edit the default mapping.
@staffy, once you have made a change to the mapping and VDJ has generated a copy - always make further changes to the copy. If you keep going back to the default mapping, then VDJ will make another new one each time.

Nope lades i mean xml database.
already have xml6 in vdj folder but then when i close vdj8 it creates fike just called database

Database.xml is the VirtualDJ database for version 8. It gets created from the V6 database when you start version 8 up. Don't delete it as it's a required file.
You will end up with two database xml files. One for version 7 and one for version 8 as they are separate.

Grand cheers pal so its ok to leave both in vdj foldet.
and from using ddjsb i like having my loops on pads 4.8.16 ect.
also great in sx as you can still use sample bank from non playing deck as you have seperste volume slider for them
