Hello,
I have never bothered to try and use this as I do not have a midi controller. I have a Mixdeck and the mixer isn't midi, and I just bought a Denon DS1. I just watched the Youtube video just to reconfirm that I can not use this feature still but in the first lines of actual feature use it is stated "Can not be used with an external mixer". I have a DDM4000 and could I not just hook up a 1/8th jack to RCA and feed it to channel 1 to use this? I only use Ch 2&3 for my turntables but I would have the ability to use 2 sound cards if I wanted would I not?

In order for Sandbox to work you will need to have an audio setup of Master + Headphones. With an external mixer, VirtualDJ has no idea where the volume fader positions are so you would have to control them with a mouse in the software.

To explain a bit further...
When Sandbox is enabled, VirtualDJ puts the entire mixer and deck status into a box, meaning that whatever you do with the decks or mixer, will not affect the Master Output (what the audience hears).
So if its a pure MIDI controller, and e.g. you move a Volume fader, VirtualDJ will simply say "No, i will ignore this change, i will keep the same output level to the Master Output and will only send this Volume change to the Headphones."
This means that this could not work if the audio mixing was done using an External mixer, since VirtualDJ will not be able to prevent this change of the sound level.
For mixers that handle audio routing internally but at the same time they send MIDI (like the DDM4000), you would need to use a different USB sound card (and have Master & Headphones assigned to its channels) and then use the DDM4000 as a pure MIDI mixer, preventing sound mixing from done internally.
