or you can do it the other way, turn the fx on then call the loop.

correct, I know a mac guy who has ported a few of my plugins but it's down to him with which he wants. I've got the source code for anybody that wants to port.
For this plugin you could make it yourself with virtualFX [which he did port], nothing much to it, just a onBuffer script [not real script here, just the idea]
in loop ? loop position smaller than saved position ? key change & save new position : save new position : key reset & save position as zero
