Please have a look at the video.
I'm loading a video and Ram usage slowly goes up from 150 MB to 900 MB, than slowly goes back down.
Loading another video, the RAM slowly goes up, than down again.
What is VDJ doing here?
I would understand if it just goes up but up and down?

pretty sure the video loads into ram so that makes sense to me.
I see the same kinda of memory usage as well even with just audio files.
maybe it is just the audio portion that loads into ram?

Do you have useDXVA on or off?

It is on.
I don't think so, because the waveform loading has finished way before the RAM is at the highest point.

pure guess,
decompressing the video.

But with dedicated RAM on the graphic card, VDJ shouldn't use system's RAM...

How much video memory do you have, and what is videoMaxMemory set to?
Inviato Wed 02 Nov 16 @ 2:33 pm
videoMaxMem is set to auto.
The laptop has a nVidia GT740M with 2 GB dedicated mem, and an intel hd4000 built-in card.
I guess it is using the intel, because I was only using the video window. No external monitor connected. On the other hand, VDJ.exe is set to use the high performance video card in the nVidia Control Panel.
VideoForceFullScreen is set to 0.

The Memory usage of the NVIDIA-dedicated RAM and the Intel Graphics seems to be a problem of Windows (8, 8.1 & 10).
Have the same problem with my Notebook (Intel Graphics + NVIDIA 820M, 2 GB) :-(
The NVIDIA-Monitor says, that the NVIDIA-Processor is used by VDJ.
But the FPS-Plugin tells me under 2.3 (Direct Draw), that there is only 112 MB of DedicatedVideoMemory + 1989 MB of SharedSystemMemory.
Don't know, what information is right....

What does videoMaxMemory say it's value is? (in the brackets after Automatic (x))
Inviato Thu 03 Nov 16 @ 12:39 pm
Automatic (1983)
Like it should be

Mine shows only 117 in Automatic Mode :-(
And it should be the same as PachN's.
