I accidentally deleted my "custom mapping" section under controllers in settings. How do i create another mapping file? I don't want to mess with the factory default just in case

Just mess with the default mapping and then save it with a new name. It's no big deal.

Ron's right, the default mapping is inside v8, once you make any changes a copy is created externally.
Similarly the default pad pages edit them and a file is created, change the file name of that padpage and vdj will recreate the default page automatically.
