Hi all,
so ive enter myself into this magical world of Virtual DJ, today i purchased a VDJ Intropack ( i Dance) controller.
I only want to use this equipment for home personal use at BBQs and kids partys with karaoke and music. The intro pack includes a Install disk for Virtual DJ 7.4 ( i believe) but ive already got the VDJ8 latest download online ( 2 weeks ago). which one should i work with? thanks
as i mentioned I would like to use mostly for karaoke so looking for best free or cheap places to download the karaoke music. I will eventually set up a seperate monitor for the lyrics to be presented on, but for now on the VDJ screen is fine. thanks again
hope you all having so much fun with ur setups and i cant way to enjoy mine just the same.
cheer Bon

I agree. If your license works with the new version that is definitely the way to go.
V7 is a few years old now, and has been deprecated

Regarding karaoke I can't really help you.
There a good places to buy karaoke tracks, but I don't think they are really cheap
And be warned: Some places sell (homemade) instrumental versions of tracks as karaoke, even though it's just audio files without any lyrics and not in a format that supports karaoke

Yeah i agree with Klaus, nothing good is cheap unless it is illegal. That said, if you have the time, there is a bit of a workaround for older motown and soul type stuff.

Most of these tracks were recorded in mono, with the music on the left channel and vocals on the right. So you can open them in audacity, delete the right channel and re-encode with the left channel duplicated to both channels. Now you have a backing track. VDJ then has a video editor where you may be able to simply add the lyrics from the net, or worst case scenario you have to type them in yourself. Then you have a karaoke track. Its a long winded way to go, but doable.

Klaus has uploaded a load of very useful videos recently to his youtbe channel which covers most of this :)

Thanks so much for the tips. Will stay with V8 as the V7.4 wasn't able to find skin file so wouldn't even open

Your controller came with a version 7 Limited Edition and it's the one that you are allowed to use without any time limitation.

If you wish to use version 8, you will need to purchase a License (Pro Infinity, Pro Subscription or Plus), or else you will enjoy a 30days of Pro Trial but when expired will only allow you 10 minutes per session.

If you get any error with VirtualDJ LE 7 (e.g. error on skin loading), please do a clean installation or contact Support for assistance.
