ok... 3 of my PC's scan 3 tracks at a time with vdj8. However, my main laptop only scans one at a time.. anyone know why. All 4 have similar specs. all windows 10, 8-16 gb ram, quad core processors...

This has been asked several times and the answer is simple:
VirtualDj takes advantage of your CPU true cores to do multiple scans at once.
One core is always on hold for real-time playback.
Therefore if your main laptop has 2 true cores it can only scan 1 song at the time.
If it has 4 true cores it can scan up to 3 songs at the same time.
My guess here is that your laptop has an i5 processor that has 2 true cores.

Or on your main laptop you are using some of the cores for other things, like playing video at the same time etc.

No it's a true quad core i7

How do I " fix" this

So it should be able to scan three at a time, but if you are playing a track at the same time, that will use one (i think) and if you are playing video that will take up another. I have a quad core i7 and if i am playing music and video it will only scan one at a time but if nothing is playing it will scan 3 at a time.

At first sight I don't see any i7-6500, only the i7-6500U
The U variants are low-power variants, which as far as I know are all dual cores with hyperthreading.
So while they can execute up to 4 threads simultaneously, they are not real quad cores.
