I am having a problem uploading a picture. Thought it might be because it was a .jpg, but converted to a .png. When I hit upload, nothing happens.

If the file size is too large then that will happen as you described. Been reported many times now but still not fixed. Apparently clicking on a picture to enlarge it was going to be added as well but that never happened.
