IT SEEMS THAT MANY TIMES "AUTOGAIN" FAILS TO ADJUST THE VOLUME DURING MIXING AND MANUAL ADJUSTMENT IS REQUIRED. AN AUTOVOLUME SETTING WOULD BE USEFUL.

The auto gain IS the auto volume

If you have your autoGain set to "auto+remember", try changing it to just "auto"

I tried that but there are are still issues with the volume between tracks especially mixing recent recordings and older ones where the sound level is many times lower (even with flac and 320 quality). And when automix is on i still have to adjust the volume manually. THANKS

But thst doesn't change anything. The auto gain IS an auto volume. So adding a second one won't make a difference

This is nothing to do with gain. It's the amount of dynamic range (or lack of) in the recordings.

Modern music is heavily compressed, which means it has very little dynamic range (difference between loud and quiet). Older tracks were never compressed to the same extent. Compression was still used during the recording process, but as a means of gentle control rather than squeezing the life out of a track.

One thing you could do is to add a compressor/limiter to a VDJ effects slot, and engage it when playing old tracks.

If you want to read more on the subject, Google for loudness war.
