anyone else had this problem, the drop down transitions menu is showing audio effects only, searched forums for possible answers, transition folder etc is where it should be and has not been changed for years using vdj 8.3 build 4845,this is getting frustrating so any clues gratefully recieved

You can check settings.xml in your Documents\VirtualDJ folder and look for videoTransition.
Sounds like it might be set to an audio effect somehow. You can remove the line to reset it.
 
Tried that adion and restarted vdj made no difference, its also defaulting to cross fader curves audio effect
 
You edited it with virtualdj not running right?
 
by editing do i delete the whole or part of the line, editing xml files is not something i`m familiar with, i normally leave well alone
 
Perhaps safest to change it to <videoTransition>Satellite</videoTransition>
 
did that with vdj not running and saved file but made no difference,maybe i should repost on tech forum

Some skin or script might be resetting it to 'cross fader curves' then.
Perhaps try to rename the settings.xml to start with a clean setup and see if it still happens then.

All my videos transition are gone after I'm upgrade to V8.3 b4918, I already back to a older version, and still no working.

Just restore everything from one of the the backups that you regularly make.

You do make backups?
 
It might be some corruption in your settings.xml (videoTransition item set to a non-transition effect)

I already check my setting xml, and this is what show: videoTransition>Screen Grab</videoTransition>
How do you change this?
 
Close vdj, remove that line from settings.xml, then restart vdj
 

This is what show on my screen
Wherever I do, won't change
Show Screen grap on both side
I open Virtual DJ 7, no problem

failing that try the same with videoAudioOnlyVisualisation, just a punt
