Hi,
I've been a licensed user/owner of VDJ since Virtual Vinyl, then upgraded to PRO unlimited several years ago.
Have only use the sampler in a very simplistic capacity up until recently.
Presently I use Cubase 10 Pro as my DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), for the sampler in this suite I use Groove Agent SE. This sampler/drum machine VST has the ability to alter the musical 'pitch' in semitone and cent (percentage) increments, the controls for this can be mapped to a MIDI controller, and therefore be changed in realtime.
Groove Agent also has the ability to enable and choose different time stretch algorithms depending on the material in the sample (complex samples use are suited to a certain type of time stretching, simple [voice, drum hit, bass sequence] make use of another), allowing for the sample time duration to remain the same irrespective of it being musically pitched up or down.
Naturally, I understand and use Virtual DJ to lock the musical key of a deck, whilst the tempo is manipulated with the DJ 'pitch' slider.
The crux of the question:-
will there be/is there a function/object-class in VDJ 8 that will allow loop samples to sync to the played deck, whilst giving the performer the option to vary the musical key, other than resorting to feeding in an exterior sampler (e.g. AKAI MPC variant or equivalent).
Centralising the ability means less kit to carry and insure, performance characteristics are simplified, storage and backup requirements (i.e. music/sample library) are streamlined.
Just to mention - I have seen that there was a similar thread posted on here some years ago, there wasn't much of a conclusion though.
