I have just tried a test;
Was unable to sync anything using some downloads, beats completely off. Tried in another program, no problem syncing.
I have lame encoded files, which when converted to WAV were able to be sync'd.
There are some issues here in how you are computing the beat grid for some mp3 encodes it would appear.
I can provide examples if you wish - mp3 vs WAV.
The lame files were stream downloads from YT, which when reencoded in Audacity as WAV's were fine.
Sync caused syncopation, rather than synchronisation on the lame rips.

Would indeed be great if you could send both files to me.
There should be no difference between wav and mp3 unless it was a difficult song to analyze either way and it's more random chance that one bpm is chosen over the other
