Topic: Start Sampler at beat 2

Hello everyone, I have some Fill-In-Drumloops that are 8 or even 16 beats long.
Can they be started at 2. beat (sometimes that fits better as a fill in)
Now I have mapped a Button:
sampler_pad 8

Would like to switch between long and short version of the fill. Smth like:

shift ? sampler_pad 8 @ beat 2 : sampler_pad 8

Is there any syntax for this or is it possible to code with script?
Thanks in advance

start the sample one beat earlier.. thats it ;-)
(And sync only, not lock phase in sample editor)

Thanks Rune. But the case is another:
I can’t start the sample earlier.
The Fills have a long run-up that culminates in a crashdrum at beat 5
When the song is running, maybe I want to put a fill short before the Refrain starts. The crash (remember it is on beat 5 of the sampler) has to come exactly at the first beat of the Refrain.
Normally I start the fill 4 beats before the Refrain.
But sometimes (not seldom) I miss this time.
When I then start the sample to late, I know, the crash gonna happen to late.
In this case I want to start the Sample from beat 3. So we hear the hottest part of the fill and the crash will be exactly at the right place.
This would be a possibility to variate the fill and use either SHORTFILL or LONGFILL.
(Could I make the problem clear?)
Seems to be difficult like almost all of my posts... sorry

Sorry... and the start point has to be beat 3
So that it’s half fill

For Longfill I start the Sampler 4 beats before Ref.
For Shortfill 2 beats before Ref.

Does anybody know a solution?
(Otherwise I have to cut the samples...)

its a bit like how to start song on beat ..
You just start it on the beat you want to, if its earlier or later.. its what djs do .. to match "phase" or sync to the beat that makes sense to

Else you can load the sample to a free deck, and have full control that way, cue up as you want etc

Thank you but you could easily say:
“To start a sampler at another beat than the first beat or make a beatjump within the sample is simply NOT POSSIBLE”
That would be enough for me to know.

“it’s what djs do”?
Sorry but this is not necessary.

A Sampler loop can be resized. (50% or 200%)
Why should it not be possible to start the sampler at another position or do a beatjump in the sample?
Has nothing to do with “what DJs do”

I know the participants in this forum to be very competent and attentive. Sorry but this time I wonder if you really read the information related to my question...
But anyway thank You very much for Your quick answer.

Wasnt anything negative meant by that...
DJs start on beat all the time, so if the downbeat is off, then they start on beat before..
And for samples it would be same if you want to not start on first beat..

I do that all the time.. . ;-) You just align the beat to where it "should be", in your case, beat before (aka 2nd beat aligns to where you want it )

As for scripting it, not sure thats possible, but you can drag the sample from sampler to deck, and cue up and do anything there
