Does anyone know how to put a marker on the virtual record thats spinning on the computer screen? Right now it has either a picture of the album cover or is blank. Is there a function that lets you just put a line on it to keep track of your positioning

change it to jogwheel display > spinner look [assuming you're on essentials layout.]
