Topic: Pioneer Opus Quad - Page: 3
I think a few of us that have been around for a while will have a few Controllers, probably not as many as you Klaus.

I currently have;
Vestax VCI100 was tested weeks ago and still works fine and VDJ still recognised it.
Faderfox DJ2 with a faulty fader.
Denon MC6000 Mk1 with both Play buttons need replacing (typical fault).
Denon MC6000 Mk2 working just fine
Denon MC7000 my main Controller

I'm sure your list will be a little more extensive. 🤣

True - but a lot cheaper than what user26226767 had on the list

I think I currently have:

Full controllers for VDJ:
Denon MC3000
Denon MC7000
Hercules DJ Control MP3 e2 (no SC)
Hercules Starlight
Hercules Steel (no SC)
MixVibes VFX CONTROL
Numark DJ2GO2 Touch
Numark Mixstream Pro
Numark Mixtrack Edge
Numark NS7
Numark Partymix Pro
Pioneer DDJ-SB2
Pioneer DDJ-SR
Pioneer DDJ-400
Reloop Beatpad 2
Reloop Buddy
Reloop Terminal Mix 4
Reloop Terminal Mix 8
Reloop Touch

Add-on controllers:
Akai LPD8
Korg nanoPad2
Korg nanoKontrol2
Novation Lauchpad
Novation Lauchpad Mini
Numark Orbit

DVS:
PT01 Scratch portable turntables
AKAI AMX mixer
Serato 7" Control Vinyl

Sound cards used with VDJ:
Focusrite Scarlett 6i6
NI Audio 2 DJ
NI Traktor Audio 2

Anyway - Sorry for the OT
But I'm sure the OPUS QUAD support will be here soon🙂

Ha ha ha, there are only 3 of them working.

It's unlikely that anybody wants the Vestax due to its age and no soundcard. I'm thinking of selling my MC6000 Mk2 with flight case as I'm in semi-retirement and just doing occasional gigs. I'm still on the lookout for an MCX8000, if I get one, I'd sell the MC7000. 😊

Bloomin heck Klaus 😳 Now that IS a hoarder. 🤣

Downloaded and tested. OPUS QUAD + Virtual DJ = 100% Working. Thx!!!

Manual is on it's way.
Until then, some quick remarks:
  • Mixer is 100% hardware (external mixer audio setup)
  • Hardware effects can be used on VirtualDJ decks
  • Software effects can be used as well, but post-fader effects are not possible
  • EQ Knobs on decks 3 & 4 can be used to control STEMS on decks 1 & 2.
  • Stems control via EQs is not possible for all 4 decks at the same time
  • Timecode is not possible
  • Swapping between software (PC) mode and stand alone mode is possible on the fly and per deck.
  • External connections (analog inputs / BT input) are possible only on decks 3 & 4
  • The unit offers a record loop back, so that you can record your entire mix in your PC and/or stream/broadcast the mix
  • Screens show all the supported information
  • Hotcue color on CUE button and on inner jog ring is supported

If I forgot anything, ask and I will answer back.

@phantom, technical question more about vdj than this HW but relates

These points tell me a lot
Mixer is 100% hardware
EQ Knobs on decks 3 & 4 can be used to control STEMS on decks 1 & 2.
Stems control via EQs is not possible for all 4 decks at the same time

since the dials pass midi [or hid, whatever] can't vdj send a manipulated source, so if the HW will -3dB of bass or whatever, vdj sends the source with +3dB bass boost. So that HW eq could be negated and used for other stuff. [like 4 deck stems]

or is this just a 5 second theory that won't work in practice?

It won't work as simple as you think.
You would have to know not only the center frequency of each EQ knob, but also it's Q (width) and any possible shelf
Then you would have to calculate the range of the knob (eg -00 to +6) and it's curve (eg -3db at 11 o clock, -12db at 9 o clock e.t.c.)
Finally you would have to do some complex math to end up with an EQ curve that would counteract the one applied by the hardware.

However, while applying a curve at a "logical" range would work, once the curve applied by the hardware goes to more extreme values, things would start to fall apart.
I mean, if you move the "HI" knob to "9 o clock" the hardware would probably apply something like -48db of EQ. This means that you would have to provide +48db boost!
And what happens when the knob goes down all the way to "kill" mode ? (-00) You would have to provide infinity boost! :P

PS: That stands for ALL hardware mixers/controllers, and it's something that we kind of have thought when we introduced STEMS. That's why we opted to do "inner/outer" channels on hardware mixers. To take advantage of the outer channels when they are not used for mixing, for STEMS control.

Edit:
I forgot. Also it would be very easy to overload/distort the soundcard. Despite the result having "net zero effect", sending a +9db or +12db boost on bass for instance, would most likely distort the digital input of the sound interface. (VU meter would be hard in the reds)

Thanks, figured it would have needed some serious [oscilloscope] reverse engineering.
we both know kill mode isn't really -∞ if it was it would take forever to calculate, but yeah it would need a exotic soundcard standard for sure, at least for the <12 o clock side of things.

but that also answers a similar question for HW mixer with midi that doesn't have "kill" could have kill pretty easy from the SW side.
Anyway thanks, 'twas just curiosity.

What version of windows do you use it with and what version of virtual dj.
I have win10 and the latest version of virtual I still can't work well with the mapping

good day everyone With which version have you used the OPUS QUAD controller? I have win 10 and 11 in any version I can work with the mapping, and by doing it manually I have details with the faders of each channel and rotary equalizers

You need Early Access Build (currently 7651) for Opus Quad.
Enable earlyAccessUpdates setting from VDJ OPTIONS and restart.
