Topic: VDJ Corrupting video
I had video sent to me and played it to test and work no problem.

When it's time for me to play the video during the party, it did not play. It's not recognize anymore.

So I did a little investigation and here is a video clip of what I found out.

Attached also is the original (untouched/unplayed) video greeting.

Copy the original greeting and use that copied video. Don't use the original because once you play that, it will get corrupted and can't be played anymore (you need another untouched/unplayed video).

The video I made to show how to make the problem happens, this is not affected.
1. Copy the Greeting video
2. load that copied version
3. play/stop video
3. click video window and re-click and now it will show BLACK VIDEO but playing the loaded clip will have sound.
4. unload video
5. reload the video and now it won't load.
looking at the tag/info, it will say MOOV Atom not Found error

i had a similar issue a couple of minutes ago. Tried playing a music video I've probably not played before and it came up with the same error, so I tried playing it in Windows Media Player and it was corrupted.

Thought it was just a dodgy file but why would it be as I double check everything once put in the DB and set cue points etc.

Will try a similar test to yours now.

EDIT: Downloaded a fresh mp4, tried the same thing and it worked OK.

I tried to play the file that didn't work on my phone as I have all my videos on there and it wouldn't play there either. Maybe it's just a standard message for video files that won't play for one reason or another.

Works fine here in VDJ, VLC, Windows Media Player.....

Original or copy doesn't matter. Loaded, played, unloaded. Load again, play - works fine.

Plenty of info online about that message (which doesn't appear in my tag editor).

[LATER] Seems it's to do with tag writing. If you have setTagsAuto on, then it does fail to load a second time, and display a message about MOOV atom not found.

Writing the tag is messing it up.

My set tags auto is no so that's probably why it was OK for me.

my tag was set to YES and tried setting to NO and now no problem.

I make sure my work horse is set to "NO".

But is it still a problem that needs looking into ?

Definitely yes. Pretty sure the devs will pick up on this.

Will be fixed in the next update.
It looks like the original file already had an invalid tag, and that caused VirtualDJ to read it incorrectly, and then write the tag back incorrectly as well.
