I believe that most (if not all) Pioneer/AT screens have the majority of their graphics stored in the firmware, which is why there are no VDJ skins shown on Pio/AT screens. They "force" their own interface.

No, it's because the device was not designed with such functionality in mind.
The screen of CDJ devices is not a display for the computer software to draw whatever it wants.
Instead it's compartmented to several parts that show "things" depending on the data the device receives.
For instance you send the song's elapsed time in msec and the device automatically turns it to Minutes/Seconds/Milliseconds to show on the display, and also rotates the white ring on the jog, and moves the large scratch waveform on the correct "place" on the screen.
So, the device does not have a "compartment" written in it's firmware where you can send text and then have that text shown on top of the scratch waveforms.

Indeed, you'll have to ask Alphatheta, but I don't think it has been common in the past that big changes are added with firmware updates to existing devices
