Topic: Remain Time by Pitch
A colleague of mine wanted to switch from Rekordbox to VirtualDJ. During this process, we noticed a fundamental difference in how remaining time is handled.

On Pioneer CDJs and in software like Rekordbox and Serato, the remaining time is not recalculated when the pitch is adjusted.
This means that even if the pitch is increased or decreased, the displayed time remains unchanged.

Because of this behavior, he worked without cue points and instead noted the transition time directly in the MP3 tag.

Example:
Cher – Believe (2:34 min out)

In Rekordbox, I can change the pitch and the time display stays the same.
So 3:30 min remains 3:30 min, even with pitch set above 0%.

In VirtualDJ, however, when a track is loaded and the pitch is adjusted, the remaining time is recalculated.
As a result, both the remaining time and the transition point change.

Example:
Cher – Believe (2:34 min out)
Pitch +10%
→ Newly calculated remaining time: –10%, because the track now plays faster.

From a technical standpoint, this behavior is absolutely correct.
And yes, of course, the colleague could also work with cue points.

However, it would be extremely helpful to have a setting option that allows the user to choose between:
• displaying the actual (real-time) remaining time, or
• displaying a relative, pitch-independent remaining time, as known from Rekordbox and CDJs.

It is possible to show the "non pitch adjusted" time value.
The bad news are that this can be done only by editing the skin.
