It's another Engine standalone device but this time seems to have hot swap like the MCX8000 to allow switching between Engine and software mode without rebooting (well does on Serato anyway)
Still no on-board stems in Engine so they still need to be precomputed, they're still pretty bad and the issues with gridding in Engine seem to not be resolved either.
All in all a decent device though if motorized platters is your bag.

To be fair, this is the first stand alone device with motorized decks IIRC
I'm not talking for single deck units, but for an "all-in-one" device.
So, this is the first all in one stand alone device with motorized decks. :)

Not that I need this unit but it has definitely peeked my interest.
Solid build, great FXs, instant switch overs, plenty of ports and motorized decks. It's ticking all my boxes.
Now how can I justify spending the money. LMAO!!

Switchover of sources without reboot is a good step. Core audio compliant is also good too. Not too sure about the screens being compliant though (I hope they are).
Just a thought though - some notable things missing:
Overally a decent device though.
I wonder if Denon's Prime series will get a refresh? All their gear is pretty much MIA from dealers, and the gear was pretty good (driver free usage were possible for a SC6000M + X1850 setup - I actually would like to get such for playouts and eliminate the worries of driver compatibility issues every MacOS major update).
Just a thought though - some notable things missing:
- No Phono/Line-in
Probably to keep the cost down - No dual USB
Could use standalone for the interim during switchover, but no direct external software to external software switchover (no different from AlphaTheta's standalone gear) - No on device Stems support
But there is the claim that the internals upgrades may allow for it in future, given they are doing it for Akai models. - All the USB source device plugins are in the back
You have to make sure you have that space at the back, and that you can keep silly people away from accidentally unplugging things there.

That claim was thrown around too when the Prime 4+ was released and it came to nothing. The current Denon stems are pretty terrible also so it will be interesting to see if they follow through with it this time. The chip inside the unit seems to suggest otherwise. From what I have read the stems rendering on the Akai units is glacially slow and no use for real time DJ work.
Would have been far cleaner from a marketing perspective if this had been ready for the release, but Mojaxx stated these units have been on the go for a while and probably couldn't be delayed any further.

Yep it would have been nice. I guess they wanted to make a statement at NAMM with a new product.
Inviato 7 days ago @ 2:39 pm
Yep it's S L O W.
When the Akai MPC with the new chip came out (October 2025) YouTubers excitedly tested the stem separation time. It's about double track length i.e. 3 min track would take 6 mins. It also locks up the system, so you can't do anything else while it's splitting.

The Rane site says "on-board Stems rendering coming early 2026" - but based on the above, it may not be what DJs expect i.e. on the fly while performing.

Picked one up this morning can't wait for VDJ to support it, so can use both engine and vdj at the same time.
Inviato 7 days ago @ 11:01 pm
Any news from the team, is support imminent or potentially months away?

I’m awaiting mine. Any comments so far .
What I was wondering .
Can you export via VDJ to CDJ export then. Import Recordbox to engine
Meaning if all your prep was in VDJ then just export to CDJ then import into Engine. With all your cues loops ready to go . Just add stem extractions after the import .
You follow ?

Will it be compatible with virtual DJ via PC?

That Mojaxx sneak peek makes me think that Engine still runs on the Rane even when it's in "computer mode" rather than the internal SoC shutting down. I think it's networking to the laptop, computer to computer.
I present the evidence that Algoriddim are notoriously bad at supporting screens, but here it's fully operational and looking very much like the Engine screen....

Most likely the devs here will know of the functional limitations/possibilities when mapping it.
Devs have mentioned before that screens are handled by different protocols depending on the device. If the protocol is fully implemented with native protocols that iOS support, then it will work there too.
Supporting screens = knowing how that protocol works, which is most likely achievable through talking with the hardware maker/and in some cases, signing an NDA before getting access to that info (after all that kind of thing is part of vendor lock-in too).
Algoriddim simply didn't have that information, and didn't care as much about that for most of their existence, but after getting influencer DJs like Mojaxx on board (and most likely being directly backed by one of the most powerful computer companies = Apple to try to be like Logic is in the DJ industry), and knowing most DJs follow them, they were forced to look into that more.

The Screen Communication Protocol is changed in System One, so that means 2 things...
1. It will take some time to implement - Dont ask when, will be ready when ready.
2. From what we have seen, it will not be possible to "skin" the screen, meaning that the UI layout will be pre-defined and VDJ (and other Apps) will just fill the device with data, so more or less similar to the Pioneer screens.

Just ordered one literally 5 minutes before you posted that.
Can always help with testing I suppose :)

That's the Rane system One controller here.
Initial impressions are that it's built like a tank. Literally. And quite heavy too but then that's expected with an all metal build and heavy platters.
It is very fast, well compared to my Prime Go+ anyway. Boots in less than 20 seconds and loads/analyzes streaming tracks almost instantly. The interface has no lag whatsoever. Everything is just such high quality.
I've a fair bit of exploring to do and can only use it for standalone and streaming right now, but any questions fire away!

Have you tried exporting a CDJ stick in VDJ and loading it on the System One? Does that work?

I bit the bullet on one of these, coming Monday as I’m away over the weekend.
Honestly it’s the first time for a long time I’ve seen a controller and was genuinely excited by it.
