I was given an external mixing device yesturday......It works perfectly, but I don't know how to begin using it with ATOMIX. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. for some reason i have a hunch that it is not going to work....

First, please buy the full version of Atomixmp3.

An external mixer will work, and is a valuable DJ tool when used properly with Atomixmp3. However the ability to split your output into 2 seperate channels for use with a mixer is only available in the full legal version.
